What a shambles! Our recent visit to Coffee Culture 5 Cross Roads, Hamilton was an utter disappointment from start to finish. We had hoped to enjoy a special occasion with friends, but instead, we were met with a series of culinary disasters that left us feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.
We ordered three servings of eggs benedict on bagels, expecting a delicious and satisfying meal. However, what arrived at our table was a far cry from what we had anticipated. It was immediately apparent that corners had been cut in the kitchen, as the bagels were clearly heated in the microwave, resulting in a disappointing texture. The bacon was overcooked and resembled rocks, undoubtedly prepared much earlier in the day. To add insult to injury, the eggs, not poached, but sunny side up, were pre-cooked and reheated, leaving them rubbery and unappetizing. Instead of the expected hollandaise sauce, we were presented with a dollop of mayonnaise and a bizarre tasting chili jam, which did nothing to salvage the dish.
To make matters worse, the beverages we ordered were equally disappointing. My friend's espresso iced coffee arrived as a glass of cream, a far cry from what was expected. Even the simple BLT on a bagel that my son ordered proved to be a challenge, as the bagel was so tough that it was impossible to cut through with a knife.
Considering the subpar quality of the food and beverages we received, the bill of over $90 was nothing short of outrageous. While my friends, who were ravenous, reluctantly consumed their meals, I couldn't bear to subject myself to another bite. I promptly requested refunds for two of our orders, a decision that was met with little resistance from the staff.
Needless to say, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. It's truly disappointing that what was supposed to be a special occasion turned into a culinary disaster. I have no intention of ever returning to this coffee shop, and I would strongly advise others to steer clear as well. It's a shame that such an important moment with friends was marred by the incompetence and negligence of the establishment's staff. I wish I took photos but I unfortunately didn't. I gave the food a 1 star rating but it...
Read moreOrdered through Uber being Celiac I have very limited options mainly cafés where you pay near full dinner at a restraunt price for eggs on toast kinds of things and 8 dollars for a few cents a coffee and milk and the expertise to put it together well . I have worked food for years from cafés to pubs to mass and small exclusive catering to restraunts to simple pop up caravans at field days.
I know this isn't anything unordinary yet the prices have always astounded me for what you receive and the generally minimum wage in this industry . But moving on from that if I am essentially paying 8 dollars for bread 2$ for a slice of tomatoe etc etc and 4$ per piece of bacon . 20$ ish per liter for drinks ..... and additional fees for Gluten free I'd expect the thing to not be charcoal . And the iced coffees or at least 1 out of 4 that insist they should be serve chilled to not be 10°+ when it was 2° out side at time of delivery .
May seem pedantic but for the price of the food I expect it to be immaculate and the rule of would you be happy receiving this your self should have been observed by any one who seen or made this .
Ingredients themselves seemed high quality and well prepeared and put together . Drinks were actually really good also once I chilled them .
Just do better . Photo of charcoal break apart bun for reference"I did try it first to make sure it wasn't just visually dark due to some weird intentional charcoal bun...
Read moreThis is a nice looking place. But the staff and the food are not so nice. Have tried numerous times none of which have been great experiances but this last time took the cake. ordered a chai which is what I always have as I can't have coffee or chocolate. So ordered a chai and it came with chocolate on top which is weird as it usually has cinnamon unless asked for. So took it back up and explained that I can't have chocolate and I didn't realise thats how they did it. They said they can scrape off the chocolate. But it had dissolved though the milk and its not just a preference that i can't have chocolate. They proceded to tell me if i wanted a new one I would have to pay for it. Which I was dumbfounded by. So i said no am not paying for a new one it already cost $9 for that one. So another girl came over and i explained what had happened. But she said the same thing that I would have to pay for it. I said i am Definatly not paying for a new one if that the case I would like a refund. With that they said " I'll make you a new one this time but next time you better remember we put chocolate on ours"...sorry to say there won't be...
