I have never done this sort of thing as I sort of think when you get food from anywhere its always a risk. However, I was so floored by what my family and I had from Tikka House that I felt like I had no option. We ordered the Tikka Platter which has a mix of meat and seafood pieces coated in a Tikka masala and cooked in the normal way. We also ordered the Butter Chicken and that was where we struck a problem. I have had butter chicken from various restaurants both dine-in and street-food both in Western countries and the Middle East and this was the worst I have ever had. It essentially was chicken pieces in cheap tomato soup. There was no redeeming qualities at all. From the taste to the smell it was just horrible. We had ordered our food later than what would be normally considered dinner time in NZ and if the restaurant had been opened still when I went to eat it I would have made the effort to take it back to the restaurant. I will not say that the restaurant as a whole were awful because they weren't. When I picked up our order they were happy to make naan for me on the spot no questions asked and that was much appreciated. Who knows maybe they were having an off night but because of this experience we will never order...

Our first visit to TIKKA HOUSE from Auckland was a huge "LETDOWN"
STARTER'S We ordered chicken & malai tikka and both were "SHOCKINGLY BLAND AND TASTELESS"
MAIN COURSE The balti chicken was surprisingly "SWEET" & Dalfry or Daltadka whatever was "LITERALLY OVERCOOKED"
IF POSSIBLE......please focus enhancing taste of your servings. We do understand that above review doesn't change the function system in your premises however, it will surely give an idea for new comers.

Tikka House is only positive responds to their feedback on social media however not actioned any steps on the menu....
Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Read moreI ordered the butter chicken and my friend opted for the paneer tikka masala. The butter chicken was a watery messâmore like a soup than a sauce. The chicken pieces were overcooked and rubbery, drowning in a bland, tasteless gravy that had no hint of the rich flavors I expected. My friendâs paneer tikka masala fared no better; the paneer was tough and chewy, and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar rather than being freshly made.
The naan was another letdownâdry and hard as a rock, it was impossible to tear apart without feeling like I might break my teeth. Overall, my experience at tikka house was disappointing on every level. The food lacked flavor and authenticity, the service was subpar, and I left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality Indian food.
Save your time and moneyâthere are plenty of other places that truly celebrate...
