Lola Breakfast Bar And Cafe — Restaurant in Hamilton

Have been going for years. Ordered my food & a cold drink at the counter as normal and was told to help myself to the drink. I sat and waited for my food and half way through my meal I got up and got my drink, as advised. I sat for a further 20-30mins to finish my meal and then got up to leave and was hollered at from across the room and then met at the door. “One of the staff saw you grab a drink from the fridge that you haven’t paid for”. I explained myself and she went back to the kitchen to check with someone and then said “I’m sorry, you have”. SO EMBARRASSING and 100% avoidable. Perhaps serve the drinks yourself or at the very least BE CERTAIN before you accuse a customer of stealing. The way you checked and confirmed I had in fact paid for it is probably something that could have been done in the 20min duration between getting the drink and finishing my food. I’m so gutted. This was the first time the Professor experienced the hospitality of Lola. The Professor likes her coffee just so and will moan if it's not right. I made the mistake of not asking for her cappuccino to come in a small cup. Whoops. The Professor was not impressed but the quality shone through the quantity. Top marks for both coffees. The breakfast has points off. My hollandaise sauce was thin and pooling on the plate. The Professor had toast that was too crispy so our score was nine out of ten for the meals. Ordered a regular flat white, smoothie, eggs on toast and chicken burger. We were given the wrong order for drinks twice and then the third time gave us a small flat white, which we asked if it could be changed for a regular. We were advised that small and regular sized coffees come in the same sized coffee cup therefore the small was correct even though we paid for a regular coffee. Eggs were very under done and it was not toast just bread. The burger was a generic patty and it was deep fried into oblivion, with fake cheese and random sauce. Felt like a heart attack on a plate.
