Silverdale Bakery and Cafe — Restaurant in Hamilton

Before COVID, this place used to serve awesome chicken packs. Fresh, moist chicken and crispy chips! Now ... The chicken is definitely cooked from frozen. It's chewy, dry, definitely not worth the money. I'm disappointed because it was our go to bakery on this side of town. The chips are stale and taste recooked! Oh I wouldn't recommend the paua pie. It's cooked with the guts of the paua with a teaspoon the actual paua itself. (This is from an inside source who worked there) Each to their own. If you want to waste your money, go to the Bakehouse on Cambridge Road! The food is served fresh, they've got great prices, a nice range of meals to eat in and very friendly staff. No photos attached of yuk chicken and chips from Silverdale bakery sorry. I threw it in the scrap bin 😞 Be careful when buying sandwiches and their shelf pies. Pies have no doubt been cooled down, refrigerated then put on the shelf all day!! The sandwiches, if you open them, only have half fillings in the front making them look full! This bakery needs to be reported. Take a glimpse in the back ground ......

I haven't been here for many years, I was in the neighborhood thought I might give it a try again. They used to have tasty juicy fried chickens (7 years ago). However, my recent visit was somewhat disappointed. The fried chicken was dry and chewy. The fillings in the chicken sandwich were only in the front end, nothing at the back end -cutting down on cost?

Just saw other reviews after I have written this one. They stated the exact same things. I won't be back here...

The staff at this bakery are polite, considerate and friendly. The food is excellently tasty and good quality and there are often specials available for food from tthe previous day.

If you are a local they will quickly know you as such, and have been very patient and understanding on those occasions when you forget your eftpos card.

I take my kids here sometimes, as well as purchasing lunches for my household, and absolutely recommend giving their Butter Chicken...
