Loading Ramp — Restaurant in Hawke's Bay

Extremely disappointed in the service and treatment we had at the Loading Ramp. Having picked up our 19 year old German daughter from the airport, we took her and our almost 18 year old daughter to have a quiet drink. My husband bought 2 ciders, 1 beer and an orange juice at the bar with us all standing behind him. He handed us the drinks, paid and then was asked if the girls had ID. Our daughter didn't have any ID on her. This we then learned was an issue!!! If we had been asked before at the door on arrival it wouldn't have been so bad, but he then hounded us for ID and needed proof that we were in fact her parents!! We were told EVERY child on the premise needed to prove they were with their parents. We asked for the manager, we were told we could quietly enjoy our drinks and leave. My husband then asked what if we wanted to stay for a meal. The reply was the same, we needed to leave!!!!! We were literally all quietly sitting at a table in the corner not causing a scene!! So am I now to take birth certificates, marriage certificates, passports to prove I gave birth to our daughter???? I have since googled all the laws about drinking legally and it states that parents are allowed under supervision to responsibly provide alcohol, however in this instance, our rights were questioned... We had paid good money for drinks that then tasted bitter and our experience was awful!!! We won't be back. DISGUSTED at the way in which it was done. Understand totally about licensing, but the manner in which it was carried out was...

Super keen to support these guys as the venue is a great set up, however when we went in for an end of year committee meeting and dinner, we didn't have a good experience at all. Very limited zero-alcohol options that weren't coke / sprite, we waited almost 45 minutes for the first meal to arrive and then another 40 odd minutes for the last meal to arrive, despite the fact they were all ordered at the same time. Maybe they were short staffed, but we weren't made aware of this, or any ordering delays, when we ordered. My GF burger was unfortunately almost inedible - the bun was rock solid, as was the chicken breast in it. We couldn't cut it with a knife. The chips were great though! Out of courtesy to the owner, I emailed them to let them know, but never heard back. A shame as, we're keen to support our local hospo when we can, but won't...

My 2 experiences at the loading ramp were both appalling, my first bad experience was on My birthday where I was asked for my I.d just to sit and eat a meal, I understand some bars and restaurants do require I.d of you look under 21 but in this chase I just turned 27. My second experience was about 1 month ago I took my 2 young children with me to eat the loading ramp for lunch, on our arrival to the loading ramp we were not greeted to a table nor were we offered a menu me and my children stood around for about 20 minutes while bar staff served everyone else around us. This is the worse experience I ever did have especially in havelock north next time I'll be sure to take this future maybe to the high media. Sort it out off the track you'll never have me...
