Thai Orchid — Restaurant in Hawke's Bay

Always used this thai restaurant as it was consistently good food but today 14/02/24 I recieved the worst service I've ever received in new zealand for a takeaway.

We ordered 2 starters (satay chicken) and 2 meals ( chicken fried rice and chicken in oyster sauce for a takeaway order took 45 minutes and when we got home found that they had missed the satay chicken starters out of our order.

When I drove back there to fetch them the boy from the counter had a smile on his face as he handed over cold food they had forgot to give me with my order.

Both starters were cold and the chicken in oyster sauce was cold

And the chicken fried rice no longer contains half the things listed on the menu ( brocoli or tomatos)

The new owners do not have customer service at the front of there priority as several people were sending food back and getting wrong orders whilst we waited nearly an hour

The 2 boys on the counter cannot handle waiting on tables or taking orders

And you can now hear crying children from the kitchen.

I'm never going back here again with service like this

I've used thai orchid for years and now it's reputation will go down fast

Bring back the old...

I would not even give this place one star if I could. Both experiences with this restaurant have been terrible.

I wanted to try a second time to see if the first bad experience was a one off, sadly not. First time dining I ordered a pad Thai with no egg as I am allergic, both ends were clear on this, however my pad Thai came with egg all through it, the plate got taken away and I had to watch all my friends eat while I waited another 20 mins for my dinner and my friends had all finished . This was not subsided at all when I went to pay, even after I explained that the point in eating out with a group is to eat together and most importantly LUCKILY enough I spotted the Egg in my meal before putting it in my mouth first. anyways giving them the benefit of the doubt I try again. I ordered one takeaway pad Thai tonight as was told it won’t be long, after waiting 45 minutes just before I was about to leave finally my pad Thai is ready.

Not sure if it is the chef or the customer service or both? But communication in this restaurant is...

Never again! Waited ages to get our drinks, didn’t come to our table so walked to the front and order. I ordered and food turned out with wrong meat. I asked her and she didn’t say sorry and then asked wanting to change. I can’t wait and would take time and probably they would spend money on wrong order. So I said fine i will eat it, then they charged more money than what I ordered cause I didn’t want to change and had that food. It was totally their fault. If they asked me to charge more money, I would understand but she didn’t even apologize that situation and justified that she charged more money for that dish. You know what this is about attitude not money! Never go there again. There is not the only one Thai restaurant in Hastings, you should learn how to do customer service! I didn’t even want to give...
