Restaurant prices for a corn fritter stack that I could have made better myself (and trust me I am no chef) 3 fritters with very amateur attempt at presentation. Bland tasting (All 3 of them) and thin. The frappe was extremely average too. Taste was ok but seems like they made it with iced water rather than ice. To be honest the food at costco across the road was better. Its not the greatest either, but at least it tasted ok and filled me up and at a fifth of the price. Second time eating here and there wont be a third. Half the staff are friendly and nice but the other half are cold without acknowledgement or smiles. Also time for the fritters to arrive was unacceptable (We had finished our drinks long before)
Update: June 2024 Everyone deserves another chance, and as the franchisor (or representative thereof) contacted me and said he had discussed my feedback with the franchisee and gave a constructive, positive & acceptable answer, my wife and I thought we would give them another chance around 4 weeks ago.(mid May). We didnt order the food on that visit and we just bought a double shot Mocha each. It was fine and service was reasonably quick this time despite more customers. , however when we were shopping at Mitre 10 start of June we decided to grab another double shot Mocha. We dont mind payiing $7.60 for a good sized cup but when it turned up, (once again in a reasonable time) they both tasted like a very watery hot chocolate - like they had forgotten to put the coffee in. I took them both back to the counter andpolitely informed them of the problem. Counter staff informed the grumpy young lady who made them if she had remembered to put the cofffee in which she insisted ""YES" Anybody can make an error when its busy and I didnt mind if it was an error and asked if they could just put a couple of shots of coffee in each mug and it would be sorted. They agreed to that, which I was happy with, BUT then they insisted on charging me for the extra shots before they went ahead. WHAT???? I said dont bother just give me my money back and they obliged. I know my coffee and I KNOW there were NO coffee shots in either cup. Customer service was handled VERY Poorly when they insisted that coffee had definitely been added and trying to insist upon me that it had (I did tell them to try it themselves if they didnt believe me) Instead they tried to put blame on me by trying to recharge for extra shots, insinuating that I was lying." You dont have to be the sharpest tool in the shed to figure out that by shifting blame to the customer and penalising them for it, they will NEVER return. Thanks for Nothing Columbus Westgate, and may I suggest to Mitre 10, they get rid of these clowns. The coffee at Bunnings up the road comes in a paper cup but it is cheaper and consistently tastes better but I do prefer to...
Read moreOur visit to Columbus Cafe turned into a complete nightmare.
We entered the cafe hoping to relax and enjoy a cup of tea with cheesecake, but instead, we encountered incredible rudeness and incompetence from the staff.
From the very beginning of our interaction with the employee behind the counter, it was clear that the level of service was extremely poor. The woman didn't speak English at all, and her facial expression was so unfriendly that we felt like we had deeply offended her.
Deciding to take a few photos of the cafe's interior for a Google Maps review, I first asked the employee for permission. However, I only received confused looks in response.
When I took a few completely harmless photos, without capturing any other customers, the cafe manager ran up to us. His behavior was simply shocking. He started loudly expressing his displeasure, claiming that taking photos in the cafe was strictly forbidden and that I should have asked for permission beforehand.
I tried to explain that I had already asked the employee about this, but she couldn't understand me. However, the manager ignored my words and continued to be rude.
When I asked him which law prohibited taking photos in public places, he responded even more rudely and demanded that I leave the cafe immediately. Naturally, his unpleasant behavior provoked a reaction from me, and I responded with some unpleasant words, for which I certainly do not condone myself.
Nevertheless, such behavior from the manager of an establishment is simply unacceptable. No customer should have to deal with such rudeness, especially if it comes from someone in a management position.
As a result of this unpleasant incident, our desire to have tea and relax completely disappeared. We left the cafe with extremely negative impressions.
I strongly advise against visiting this Columbus Cafe. If you value your time and nerves, it is better to choose another...
Read moreI ordered coffee from here and asked for it to be really warm, as I am heat sensitive. The coffee was actually really hot and burnt the tip of my tongue. This wasn't subjective, as the cup was as hot as the other cup of coffee we ordered at "normal" temperature. When I went to ask about this, the female staff were helpful but a male staff member there rudely (raised his voice, and then implied I wasn't being truthful) told me that it was "warm" and that he made it "50 degrees". I stated that it wasn't and the other cup of coffee was just as hot. It genuinely burnt my tongue too. His comment was really invalidating. Another staff member offered to re-make it, but he intervened and offered to pour milk in it. This was fine as it was a resolution. However, I had also waited 20 minutes for this drink, whereas others got their order earlier. There was a full team working there. Overall, it was really disappointing and left me not wanting to come back. That's not how you...
