Went there for dinner with a group of 9 people. The waiter who was responsible for our table tried to constantly convince us to order from their "seasonal menu" which is not part of their main menu or the chef's recommended menu. My biggest concern is she never mentions how much her recommended dishes costs, and those dishes cannot be found on any printed menus that was provided. And when we did not agree to order from her "unpriced recommended dishes", she was rather unhappy. We wanted order a deep-fried corn dish, and another staff told us we can only order that dish if we agree to have the dish served to us ASAP even though the table was still half empty, and we were waiting for 4 more people to arrive. During the duration of our meal, we were served by a total of 4 waiters. The 2 middle aged staff (including our main waiter) that served us had serious attitude problems and made me feel very uncomfortable. If we were not meeting our friends there for dinner, I would have LEFT STRAIGHT AWAY. I'm not going to spend money at a place that disrespects its customers based on what is ordered. (That being said, the 2 younger waiters that bought the dishes to our table were professional.) As for the food, the taste is authentic, but the dishes are overpriced by about 10% to 20% compared to similar restaurants, and the portions are small. The food is NOT GOOD VALUE for money. In summary, I would not recommend...
Read moreCustomer service is a BIG let down. We went with a big group of 13 people. Naturally, we called to see if we could make a booking as it doesn't make sense for 13 people, including a bunch of kids and babies, to wait at the door for a table to become available. The staff on the phone advised they do not take bookings - that's fine, we do understand some places don't take bookings, BUT what surprises us was when we asked for them to peek in the restaurant to have a quick look at whether there are tables available or about to be freed up, they bluntly refusing to do so and hung up. We should have just left it there but a few still decided to check the place out and took the chance. When we arrived within 15 min of the phone call, we found at least a third of the tables were free, at 12.30pm on a Sunday, it doesn't seemed to be at a high demand (maybe others have found out about their renowned customer service before us)! It is a real shame because both times that we've had yum cha at this place, everyone at the table have otherwise enjoyed the dim sum dishes. But then again, there are quite a few good yum cha places in the area too, and good customer service counts. Will be bringing my business to the one in Panmure from now on which has consistently performed well on food...
Read moreAn authentic mainland Chinese restaurant experience. We came here to check out this restaurant as it's newly opened. It requires making reservations in advance and also deciding dishes In advance while making a reservation. We were given a set menu (in Chinese) to decide what we could order.
First impression: There was a rubbish dump right next to the entrance, so you could smell the garbage as you're walking in. They have a pianist playing live music, but for only a short period of time from 7: 00pm - 7:30pm combined with some live opera singing.
The atmosphere, of the restaurant does remind me of an authentic Chinese restaurant though. The enormous TV in front of the restaurant plays a mixture of vintage Chinese music and Kpop (Girls generation) and Chinese idol show, which is all quite a strange combination.
A bit disappointed with the food, as it wasn't that great for what you pay for. Especially the oyster we ordered... It was smaller than the size of a $1 coin...
Don't come here with high expectations... You'll be very...
