HIPPO Cafe — Restaurant in Howick

I've never met such rude cafe staff esspecially the cafe manager. It was the worse experience I have ever had in an indoor playgraound. They were rude and disrespectful. After I paid for my daughter $30 which is the most expensive indoor playground in Botany Auckland. I looked around for a seat but could not find one, but there were spare seats in the cafe so I sat down while my daughter was in the playground. After a while she wanted an ice cream so I bought her a couple then sat down in the cafe to eat it. She returned to the plagraound while I sat in the cafe. After a while I went out to check on her while leaving my waterbottle and musk on the table, but when I came back, my water battle and musk were gone. I politely asked one of the waitress if they have removed my waterbottle and my musk. She rudely answer she doesn't know and she didn't seem to care. I asked if she could asked the other waitress if they have removed it. None of them seem to know or care including the cafe manager. I spotted my water bottle on the counter and asked if I caould have it back as well as my musk unfortunately they didn't seem to care or think it was important, so one of them offered me a cheap musk. But I demanded my musk because it was a medical proven and a quality musk. I was so diappointed with the cafe manager and the cafe staff for removing my waterbottle and my musk eventhough they knew I was sitting there wit my daughter. There was no apology from any of them esspecially the cafe manager who was demanding me what I wanted which was totally unacceptable. I said to her, "I wanted my musk back as it was a quality musk and could you explain to me why you removed it from the table. I felt so unwelcome to Hippo Cafe after this experience. Not a big place but loads of fun areas for the kids. Cafe is on the other side of the glass and serves excellent quality food along with great friendly service. There are staff roaming continuously keeping the playground clean, safe and supervised at all times. Bean bags are placed in the play area for parents to relax while watching kids go crazy. Everything is padded and in working order. There's also tables and chairs for dining just outside the play area. They also have a hippo mascot who roams every now and then for the kids to marvel around. They have a human claw (Paw) machine at $20 per go which is super fun and rewarding for every participating child. There is a height and weight limit though so its best to check with staff before putting your child on. They have a party room for hire and also run holiday programmes for kids. I can see this place being absolutely amazing for children, super family friendly and both cafe and playground sections are wonderfully set up and still quite ambient despite the hectic playful background of children being present.

As the for the food it was your standard cafe brunch food, normal expected portions, slightly on the lackluster side of more modern cafes that are popping up in Auckland now, but none the less ok with the feed.
