DAGU Rice Noodle Botany大鼓米线东区店 — Restaurant in Howick

The place was packed when we came for dinner but we were able to get a table in the back. Both Chinese and English menus are in the same booklet, just flip it over if its not the right one. They have a series of rice and noodles dishes as well as hotpot options. Once ready, you head up to the counter to order and pay, just remember your table number. We grabbed the signature beef noodle soup, cheese rice cake chicken and original chicken steak. The signature soup has a tomato base and was nice. The noodles had a nice bite. The chicke steak is essentially a fried chicken cutlet and that was quite enjoyable too. The spicy rice cake chicken was similar to the Korean tteokbokki but this one had lots of shredded chicken in it. The portions are decently sized so it is nice value for money. Been to other branches of Dagu before. I can say the noodles consistency is there.

I wanted to order my usual favourite which is the soft pork bone rice set but they did not have it and it was only just hit 12pm. I was not that happy. Anyway I ordered something else and moved on with my life. My wife's noodle came but they didn't even bring any eating utensils unlike all the other branches. The utensils looks a bit dirty and also they had these weird plastic cups for the drink which I didn't use at all as I was afraid that it is dirty. The tables are also way too close, it felt like someone walked past can easily do a fart in my food.

I can say that this place is very popular because of it's location which is amongst an asian population, but if I were to go to Dagu again I would never come back to this branch as all the other branches...

Went early to the store for lunch when it was just open for the day, ordered two dishes for two people by second place in the long queue. One dish came fast and taste was all right but another dish seemed to be forgotten for some reason. We finished our first dish and kept waiting for the second dish for long time. During the time, no staff approached to ask if we had our order or happy with their service. Feel like they are lack of communication between front order desk and back kitchen. At the end we had to approach different staff two times to get our second dish. No mood to enjoy food, not good experience for us.
