You are in for a treat if passing through Dannevirke.At the north end is a tuck shop that sells the best fried chicken this side of Hawkes Bay. Using organic chicken and not frozen it is crispy on outside and succulent inside and finger lickin good. Mulan bakes her own pies from smoked fish to steak kumera and bacon not to mention the usual. Her custurd cream slices are deliciously naughty. She is open on Saturday and serves organic bay espresso coffee from Hawke’s Bay which is very good. Well worth stopping before heading out and there is a park not far to consume her...

Wish I could give more stars. The steak and bacon pie was irresistible with the meat, melt-in -your-mouth tender. The Charlie's chicken looked like it would be dry but was so moist and tender with a delightful crunch on the outside. Much better than the normal no-chicken joint down the road. The chicken salt chips were flavourful but not crunchy. Will definitely stop here next time we do a road trip to Napier...

Avoid this place. Chips soggy and well under-cooked. Tasted like the vat needed an oil change. Ate a couple and threw the rest out. My son (10 years) got a pie and couldnt eat it. "Tasted funny". This kid will eat anything. Wasted $18. Wont go back and definitely DO NOT...
