The Sponge Kitchen — Restaurant in Manawatū-Whanganui

Today I was doing a presentation for a customer and was putting on an afternoon tea for 30 approx. I had been busy and left the ordering until the last minute. I called the sponge kitchen with very vague requirements on the day and they were able to understand my needs. They went above and beyond to have the order prepared by my required timeframe and all the hot elements were hot when I arrived at my destination. Service today was again abysmal. Waited 9 minutes to get service having to ring the bell several times. There were 7 other customers waiting. The attached restaurant's staff ignored us considering that it's all one business. I already had bagged the savouries and was waiting. When I got eventually served I requested an eccles cake. They gave me a piece of slice. When I went to pay the three staff were competing over the EFT POS terminal to the point of deleting the others transactions Very poor service and when I got home six minutes later had to reheat the savouries. $16 for seafood chowder take away in a coffee cup. Never had a take away chowder in a coffee cup. Maybe consider getting proper takeaway containers. It comes with bread and the lady asks if I wanted bread like I thought it should come with it. I said to the lady to tell her boss to consider buying proper takeaway containers and she tries to argue telling me that’s how they always done it so it doesn’t spill.
