Revival Café & Coffee — Restaurant in Marlborough

It's difficult to believe Revival manages ratings higher than 2/5. While the store is clean with a modern atmosphere, it misses on every other category which may qualify it as even a mediocre cafe. I found it shocking that the staff at the counter didn't bother with the usual pleasantries which Kiwis are known for. There was nothing warm or welcoming making it clear the relationship was strictly transactional. The coffee came quickly and my cappuccino tasted as if they'd used drip coffee from a midnight truck stop and poured bubbly steamed milk poured in. Based on the flavor I'm fairly certain they're not cleaning their machine between uses and the barista needs to be trained properly. The food while not unpleasant in look, was dismal. The eggs of the bene were hard poached so instead of deliciously runny yolk, it was a dark congealed glob packed inside the hard whites. The hollandaise sauce was sour because they'd over done the lemon. It was also thick like whipped cream or possibly thickened cream. This seems odd given the actual sauce is made with eggs, butter, and a drop of lemon to even out the richness. I could only manage two sips of coffee which I regretted because the petrude flavor stuck in my mouth until it was washed away with an oddly cream like sour lemon sauce. I wish I could say this meal was mediocre but instead it was just bad. I strongly recommend pretty much any place else in Blenheim, maybe even the gas station over...

This morning I came into your shop to buy a takeaway coffee, it's consistently awesome by the way! And such a lovely group of people. I'd had a really rough week, ordered a take away coffee, came back to collect it and the young lady who made it wrote on the lid of the cup, "Have a great day!"With a little chain of blue flowers on the top. I just wanted to say thankyou and that actually ment alot to me, such a lovely thoughtful thing to do, the little things matter alot to some people, it was a great coffee too. Keep up the good work. I was really looking forward to trying the cream mushroom earlier today 😩. Unfortunately, the dish didn't quite meet my expectations, as the mushrooms tasted a bit off 🍄. It was more like no cream, which was a bummer 😞. While I appreciate the effort, the overall flavor profile just didn't quite come together for me 😕. I'll request the staff to at least offer water.
