Sushi Planet — Restaurant in Masterton

Yesterday, I had tuna and chicken sushi at the Sushi Planet for $25. The sushi had clearly been sitting there for a while by the time I bought it. I had it for lunch around 1:30 pm, and by 6:30 pm, I was in extreme discomfort with diarrhea. I went to the bathroom four times within 10 minutes, barely able to leave the toilet. Every time I stood up, I had to sit back down. My underwear even got soiled and had to be thrown away - an inconvenience as I was travelling with my mutt grover and didn't bring more than one other pair.

I was staying at the caravan park in Masterton, so I went back the next morning to ask about it. The staff immediately claimed it wasn’t at the fault of the sushi and told me to speak with the manager the next morning, though I was not going to be in town for that long.

Instead, this morning, I bought a tuna and chicken sushi meal from the Sushi Gallery for $17.50 near to the public toilets in the centre of town. It was absolutely delicious - sweet, juicy, and the seaweed was not chewy at all. It was completely different from what I had at the Sushi Planet. The son running this business apparently....

Amazing, fast service!! The team made our salmon sushi fresh in front of us. The sushi itself tasted fresh and there was a great selection. The special of the day “chicken katsu” was also made from scratch, in little time!

This is the perfect stop if you are visiting Masterton and would like a picnic food to take on the drive or eat in a local park!

11/10 best sushi around wairapa/wellington we literally travel 60km for their sushi, most sushi places in wairapa/wellington are pretty good but this place must make it with love because it takes the cake. Thank you sushi planet!!
