Angkor Wat Kiwi Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Napier

A bakery and cafe that is well known in napier and is very popular with the locals in taradale. Mince and cheese pie 7.7/10 Was told by a couple of locals that this pies sells the most. Well-balanced pie. Pastry isn't thick, filling is decent, and imo enough cheese to make it a decent mince and cheese. Not enough to be in the 8s, but it's a good standard pie.

Bacon and egg quiche 8.3/10. Juicy and crispy pieces of bacon on top, a considerable amount which I appreciated. The stir cheese through the egg has a nice flavor, and the pastry is your standard short crust. Like how that they don't add corn, peas, and carrots, as I think that should never be in quiche. Very nice.

They have had won awards in the past, and I wouldn't be surprised if they win a few more later...

Not many customers at 10am. Something must have changed here very recently. X2 mince & cheese pies. The only flavour I got was the fat in the pastry, the filling I could not taste over the fat from the pastry. Mince inside very white with gravy? Only ate 1 of 2 pies, 2nd went straight to the bin. Once bitten = twice shy, I shall never return! 28/06/24 10am(ish). Century bakery have been doing it right much longer... 4 staff hovering around the till while boss shows how to while trying to make previous customer's coffee. Only takes 1 bad experience to put me off for life, but, that's just me tho. Century bakery don't go thru staff like Angkor wat does, warning bells,...

Nicely asked if I could please have my eggs bene without toast... someone from inside kitchen said no because they would "sit funny with the spinach on the plate"... (???) I said it's fine I just don't eat bread or hashbrowns and would not be very nice ordering and not eating, unnecessary wastage... I wasn't asking for discount or any replacement however the person inside the kitchen said it wasn't possible to do it lol I...
