I've dined at a lot of restaurants in my time and I've never given a 1 star, but I'll explain why. Full review follows. We went in a nice restaurant, decor and layout was pleasing. Well trained staff. We ordered 3 entrées. The prawns were perfect, The mussels were very salty! The chicken satay were big portions BUT, they weren't top quality chicken, For how meaty they were I let this go. Until as I finished the last one it was pink in the middle. I told the waiting staff and her reply to me was "I'll guarantee this is cooked, but I'll inform the chef" This, with the following I have was a MISTAKE! The usual protocol would be. Apologise Comp the entrée. If this would have been the case I would have given a 3 star but this is unforgivable! The main which was seafood also was average. With a bill over $70 which is what you'd expect to pay for what we ordered but the incident with the chicken is why this got...

During my birthday celebration, I dined at the Lotus in Taradale for the first time. Despite high praise from my parents, I observed discrepancies in the quality of our drinks. While the wine met expectations, the beer was subpar.( Unless your a fan of English beer that looks like its dead on arrival, and the glass wasn't even full to the brim) Our chosen dishes, sizzling beef and sizzling honey duck, arrived promptly and in ample portions. However, the otherwise delightful honey duck was marred by a disappointing serving of bland Watties frozen stir-fried vegetables underneath. My partner's dish was the same pile of frozen veggies adorned with snippets of beef. Dessert that followed was a treat to the eye but sadly not to the pallet and missed the...

We got takeaway from here with mains Pad Khi Mao Medium and Mussaman Curry mild. The potatoes in the Mussamun we're uncooked, the colour very yellow and nothing like Mussamun I've had from multiple other places around NZ. Also the Pad Khi was too spicy to eat. When I phoned the store to let them know that same night they said they'd pass it on to the chef, but the Pad Khi is a spicy dish by itself so medium just adds more chilli. Have double checked their online menu and it doesn't specify how hot the dish is. Very disappointed as we were willing to try it again after a not so great experience years ago, as someone who dined in rated the food highly. It would have been good for them to acknowledge the disappointing food by providing good...

Great service and friendly. I visited for lunch on a weekday around 1pm, there were some other diners but it was not over busy. I had combination Thai fried rice and two beers which cost $54 which I thought was a little expensive, I had the dinner serving not the lunch once. The food was very nice. It was located with easy access to parking on the street and could cater to those with walking difficulties or anyone using a wheelchair. The Resturant was a good sized and could cater to larger groups. The toilets were modern and also clean; it would appear they were upgraded in recent times. Would eat here again.

First time visit to this restaurant. Upon entering we were greeted as if we were family, smiling and friendly staff who really seemed to want to be there. Once seated drinks were provided and our orders were taken. The food arrived promptly and looked amazing, it tasted even better, none of us could fault the quality of the food, it would be one of the tastiest meals I have had in recent times. Overall a great meal accompanied with great service. Well done to a great team.
