This place has the worst, rudest and most aggressive service I have ever had in NZ!!! I would give this place -1 star if I could!! We ordered One fish of the day and One seafood kebab, got given the order which was only one fish with chips. So we had to drive back. I told them that wasn’t what we ordered. The guy didn’t listen to me , instead he kept saying “ what did you order? How much did you pay?” I repeated what we ordered but he still repeated saying the same. He was speaking louder and louder and it looked like he was about to fight with me. Then the woman had to come out to calm him down. After he saw the food he gave us, he finally realised he heard the order wrong. Then we had to wait for extra more minutes to get the right order. It was his fault and he even wanted to fight with me, what a ridiculous joke! Until the end, he still didn’t say a single Sorry!!! I have never ever had service like this in NZ!!This is definitely the...
Read moreThis used to be our chippie of choice a few years ago. In fact it won a small competition we held in my office for the best chips in Nelson. Well, the chips are still pretty good, although a little too greasy for my taste. They were fresh and salted nicely although perhaps a little over cooked. I ordered 2 pieces of fish of the day (blue warehou) , and as you can see in the photos, they are a little smaller than you would get elsewhere. I did also order some bluff oysters and they were fresh and delicious and cooked beautifully. Even with these minor complaints, this is still one of the best fish and chips shops in town, and the locale is perfect on a nice sunny day. Grab a scoop and a fish and go sit on the wharf and watch the boats come and...
Read moreRead the reviews and decided against better judgment we would give it a go. Even though it was beautifully cooked and well drained I was extremely dissatisfied at the quantity we received. 6 scallops @ $2.80 each, 6 mussels @ $1 each, 1 scoop of chips @ $5 and 4 fish of the day @ $5 each equals $52 ( you do the math) I think being ripped off is an understatement. The only item I agreed would be the right price for is the fish as they are obviously half fillets as you can see them in the cabinet. You would be insane to think that you would get a full fish fillet for less than $10 a piece these days so the owner may wish to state this fact. The mussels super small and same with the scallops (cut in half?) So glad we got...
