Eden Cafe & Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

We arrived literally 1 minute after the time for a first table booking. I showed the booking at the counter and was shown our table while my wife finished waking our sleeping 3 year old from the car parked right out front.

10 minutes after being seated, the manager came out and our family (heavily pregnant wife and two young children) were told they wouldn't honour the deal because we were late.

It's like they purposely waited a while so we would still decide to eat there - instead they acted like they were doing us a favour, by offering a partial discount - what a joke!

Why not tell us up front? It wasn't about money for us, it's the principal - there is something to be said about a restaurant that would do that to a family over $20, which would be a lot of money for some.

We went and paid full price for a lovely meal elsewhere.

Booked a table for Brunch for 10.30am today, on arrival we were not greeted by the waiter he blatantly ignored us ( a table of 3 noticed and commented on it too) once we interrupted him to say we booked, he replied and pointed in the direction of our table with an annoyed voice. Waited a further 15mins before my Partner had to go up and ask if we were to order at the counter or if there was table service - to which he scoffed at us and said “yes we do, but we’re too busy” a truly rude tone again to which we nearly up and left, but, my father in law needed to eat with his medication and is a NP local who suggested this cafe to us because of the “great service and food” we ordered 2x Salmon Benedict’s - the SALTIEST salmon we’ve ever eaten and one very dry Chicken Caesar salad. I am truely disappointed with this cafe. This morning my family and I came in to the cafe looking for brunch. We sat down and waited 30 minutes just for the waitress to come and take our order. (Note that the cafe was not busy) then once the girl finally came over to take our order she was very blunt and unwelcoming. As someone whom has worked in many cafes/restaurants I expect quality customer service or would even settle for a smile. Once the food arrived the same waitress dumped our food on the table and left before I got the chance to ask for tomato sauce. On the way out I was observing the barista they had on, and he had handled the marshmallows with his bare hands and dumped them in to CUSTOMER hot chocolates.
