KFC Levin — Restaurant in North Island

Stoked we had a KFC to stop at, disappointed was an understatement. We are traveling up and leaving reviews and blogging our toddler trip up the north island and being a "family restaurant/takeaway" we thought it would have kept up with some standards of Mr C but he would be very very disappointed.

Two Staff behind counter don't wanna be there, gas bagging when all tables needed a wipe down even a family came in after us and said this to the guy and he still just stood there taking Noones orders. It wasn't busy at all and it looked like Noone cleaned thr outside during the day at all with leaves everywhere. A pooey nappy in the carpark. That probably should have been my first warning.

I asked for thr sanitizer to be refilled. Irs winter season I can tell it's been out for a long time and u have a pregnant Staff member that sat at the cleanest table on her phone for her break and then after she went back to work and I didn't see her wash her hands, we were there for 30 minutes and that was plenty of time to see not one table got cleaned.

I will be making a formal complaint, disgusting practices cleaning is not hard and should be #1 priority. I did bring this up when leaving saying all the table are dirty but Noone wanted to hear nor bother with us after we received our cold chips, lack of popcorn chicken and sloppy burger.

On the positives. Parking was easy, wonder why. Locals no not to go? Service was quick, wanted me outta there And I was out fast.

Unfortunately it was a bad experience tonight. After a long car trip home, we had a hankering for KFC. When we arrived we failed to notice the 4 or so black and white signs while we scanned in. We were expecting to sit down. 2 staff members where sitting at a table with food. First off they had no onions for their burgers? Kind of a key component and onions are not hard to source right? Then we were told there is no dine in...was a surprise but we accepted this for what ever reason it was necessary. My wife got her order first and while I waited she opened some of hers and stood at a leaner. As mine was coming out a staff member yelled at my wife saying there was no dine in. She didn't take kindly to that approach. It was all just poorly handled to be honest. We were offered nothing for a key component missing from the burger. No one took the time to advise us the dine in was closed until we tried to do it. As we left we did then look for signage advising of the closure. It was not obvious sorry. The biggest disappointment we decided later was that KFC is a safe place on a road trip to get a quick comfort meal in a easy to use dine in area with toilets. We decided we don't expect much more hospitality than that other than politeness...sorry but I can only recommend that if you are on a road trip and get that KFC yearning...push on to the next town or try...

The staff are kind, good service and fast on a normal day. But the food is disgusting, pink chicken has been served more than once to customers and it’s not ok, when someone I knew asked why it was pink they were told by staff it’s normal. They are very kind but maybe more staff training is required because it’s not normal. I am not personally attacking anyone in the work place but that’s not normal and it could be a heath and safety risk. Also when I was there one time the self order machine said it failed to make my order me wanting some food I requested it to try again and it charged me for 1 meal and ordered 2 of the same meals and sent it to the kitchen, being the person I am I didn’t take it, but someone definitely could get a free meal at this point. KFC is good but this particular kfc restaurant has problems. I recall a time my cal slaw tasted like cleaning products, it definitely was the worst tasted ever.
