KFC — Restaurant in North Island

Went in to buy some chips and there was a sign on the counter saying fries, coleslaw and a third item I can't recall being unavailable. Only one staff member present, a teenage boy, who looked at me with what I can only call a strange expression on his face, hardly friendly. To be fair on him, perhaps he was nervous working unsupervised. Looked around the restaurant. To be fair, the counter and table tops were clean as a whistle, but the windows were very dusty and there were scraps on the floor. Granted this is a rural town where many customers pick up their order and go home, however the dining area is far too small for a large family gathering or group occasion such as a business or Church lunch. Also tried applying online for work there and gave up. While this ultimately goes back to KFC management protocol in America and other parts of New Zealand and is not a slur on the Dannevirke business, the application process is full of unnecessary complications. You have to provide photocopies of your Birth Certificate, Driver Licence or similar personal identification. Gave up when they wanted a signed letter from a Justice of the Peace. Are we frying chicken or escorting the...

Gosh where do I start? I'm from hastings so thought kfc couldn't get much worse than there.....until I went to kfc dannivirke First I clearly said I wanted to use a code from the app and the lady goes you want an aiol burger? After trying to explain myself for awhile she finally figured it out,got to the window and it looked like someone already chucked there order back at them with the crime scene I drove into (wish I had the chance) the lady on drive was rude and has zero customer skills I drove home to hopefully enjoy my meal... now I am wrong the chicken? The outside was rock-hard once I broke that layer it litterly dripped alot of oil once I used a roll of paper towels the chicken stopped dripping I pulled it apart and gosh dam it was so dry not even the dog wanted to eat it.....well I guess I'll move onto the burger...that was just as bad the bun was hard and had no mayo again was inedible I looked at the rest of the food and didn't even want to bother,honestly I recommend driving past this place and going elsewhere unless you want to spend your money on food even...

We came though on New Year’s Day- The food was super fresh, tender juicy chicken and hot freshly cooked chips as well as potato & gravy the restaurant itself was closed due to staff shortages- so the drive thru was super packed but with very little wait time. There was a note on the door saying only 2 staff working however there was actually 4 I could see at the drive thru window, I’d recommend for future that you don’t state now many staff you have on the floor but rather simply state SHORT STAFFED, I understand that to have the dining area open you need more staff on board. We parked up at the railway station which was also rather enjoyable.

The best KFC I’ve had in years- I now know if I want the best KFC I need to take another road trip.
