Mole & Chicken — Restaurant in North Island

From the beginning, right through to the end of dealing with this business, it would have to go down as being my worst restaurant experience, EVER! I originally dealt with the owner, who failed to send me menu options, not once, but twice. I booked for a group of 28 people, including children. I received 3 set menu options as well as a children's menu the day before our reservation. When I arrived, there was only 1 set menu, as well as the children's menu on our tables. We were then informed that they the owner had just selected what he thought was best for us, he could not have been so wrong. We were then told that as a group we could not select from the a la carte menu, we all had to either stick with the set menu or the a la carte menu. The children's mains took an hour to arrive, to which the chicken dish was hardly touched on account that the meal was far too spicy for most. The adults mains took another 30 minutes afterwards, my meal was disgusting as the meat pattie inside my burger was still red in the middle, when I switched my meal to the fish and chips, I discovered scales in my meal. When we left to pay, they tried to charge us for another child's meal. Overall, I would strongly urge potential diners to dine elsewhere. What an absolute joke of a business. The problem starts at the top...

Absolutely abysmal food, this place has certainly gone down hill.

We had the ceviche which was..I genuinely don’t know how to describe it. It was almost in some kind of thick paste with large chunks of what seemed like supermarket deli fish, all of it without any crackers or chips as you usually would with ceviche. We also had scallops that were undercooked with cold peas.

But the worst part of the evening was the “crispy” pork belly. The pork came out with the crackle in an almost jelly like state that we peeled off of the pork, with two pieces of dried pork crackle in the shape of a flattened noodle that were incredibly tough and definitely were not from the same piece of meat in any way.

All of this in an environment with no AC on during the middle of summer. It seemed even the wait staff were aware of how awful the food was here. Such a bad look...

To begin with a group of 6 of us arrived and had pre booked. We were seated promptly. We then waited 10 minutes to have our drink orders taken and a further 10 for them to arrive. None of us drink alcohol so all got some form of fizzy (L&P, lemonade, lemon lime bitters) which all tasted really off, nothing like I've ever had before. The Garlic breads have to be the biggest joke I've ever come across, $8.50 for a pathetic tiny piece of bread is just beyond me. The mains were good but at $28-$32 for a burger I believe is really steap and the other mains are a good $5-$10 over priced. I got the pork belly and at $40 I was a little shocked at how little I got.
