I had the most delightful experience during my stay at the Lakefront Lodge in Taupo, New Zealand. From the moment I stepped into the wonderful cabin-like rooms, I knew I was in for a treat. The rustic charm of the rooms combined with the modern amenities provided the perfect blend of comfort and nostalgia.
Cleanliness was undoubtedly a priority here, as the rooms were immaculate. It's truly a pleasure to relax in a space where attention to detail and hygiene are so evident. The view from the lodge was simply breathtaking; waking up to the serene beauty of the lake right outside my window was a surreal experience.
The location of the lodge couldn't be better. Being right on the lakefront allowed for easy access to various water activities and scenic walks. It's an idyllic setting for those seeking tranquility and a connection with nature.
What truly stood out, though, was the incredible staff. The level of service and attentiveness they provided was exceptional. The staff members were not only friendly and professional but also genuinely helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable and comfortable.
And let's not forget the owner of the lodge, who is an absolute gem. Their character and warmth added an extra layer of charm to the lodge. Engaging in conversation with them was a highlight of my stay. What truly touched my heart was witnessing their kindness in action. I saw them help people in need without any charge or questions asked. They are true saints, and their generosity exemplifies the spirit of hospitality.
In conclusion, my stay at Lakefront Lodge was a five-star experience in every sense. The cabin-like rooms provided comfort and nostalgia, the cleanliness and location were outstanding, and the staff, along with the owner, made me feel like I was part of a caring community. If you're looking for a place to unwind, connect with nature, and experience genuine hospitality, Lakefront Lodge in Taupo is the perfect destination. I can't wait to return for another...
Read moreI think if this hotel was situated any where else except lake front they would have had to lift their game. I specifically requested onsite parking, but had to park roadside 2 /3 nights. I don't know if there are not enough parks for guests or if all the parks used up by the restaurant guests who are not hotel guests. One night we had to park quite a way up the street. It was just myself and my little boy. The hotel is very tired and in desperate need of an up grade. Worn paint and carpet, missing blinds reduced privacy from next door, was annoying having to close curtains on a sunny day to get privacy. Had to request a microwave but to plug that and the kettle in, the cord had to go across the cupboard with all the cups and utensils, so you had to make sure you got what you needed out before you could use appliances. I had to sit the kettle on top of the microwave to have them both plugged in at once. The shower pressure was bad and there was no where to put soaps shampoos etc except the floor. Also very limited bathroom counter area to put what I needed out so had to hang my toiletry bag on a hook. No air-conditioning or heating except for a slow, very old ceiling fan and a very small fan heater. Lucky the windows can catch a bit of lake breeze. The gap at the bottom of the entrance door let in a lot of bright light at night so had to sacrifice a pillow to stop the light. There is no wardrobe to hang anything just a couple of hooks on the wall. There is only one beside cabinet and a case stand but nothing else to put things on or in. This was a room for 3 people. We had to put everything on the floor. Also very noisy. People walking the corridor felt like they were in your room. The pool was the size of a 50c coin so you are better off going across to the lake I was pretty disappointed with the price I had to pay. Certainly only paying for the location alone. No view of the lake. This photo was taken leaning out the window and zoomed between a...
Read moreDisgusted by the behaviour of the owners and their non helpful receptionist who as soon as we inquired for a refund; turned ugly. Without going into details of why we did not want to stay at their establishment we simply tried to come to a compromise of either a refund or credit as we did not feel safe or comfortable with what was happening at their establishment at the time of arrival.
After being disrespected several times by the male owner (who was intoxicated) so much so that even his wife had to intervene several times as he was being too aggressive towards us; in front of our kids and other patrons; could have taken the opportunity to be reasonable and understanding to our needs but they weren't trying to see it from our point of view and tbh I shouldn't expected it from people who clearly just look out for themselves.
We decided to cut our losses and leave as trying to have a mature civil conversation was clearly not plausible; and it was safer for us to leave as we don't wish to expose our children to that type of environment that they clearly allow at their establishment. Then as a final display of hospitality the male owner further disrespected us by shouted out as we got into our car "yeah just f*uck off" wow what a tough guy. I'm thankful my husband showed more resilience, maturity and self control because any other person would have dropped him.
I understand he was under the influence but it says a lot about the type of...
