Well to start with, I went to the Bayfair branch twice. Both of the times, the plates, glasses and cutleries looked dirty/had marks all over. If I had to guess they just lightly rinse all the used things and put it out when there is even a medium rush at the restaurant. The bathroom was a little uncleaned as well, don't think any staff went into the bathroom to check and/or just didn't bother with it.
The food was alright. I ate at Nando's in 2 other countries and I remember them tasting much better but that's my opinion. During my second visit in this branch, I felt that the chicken was a little undercooked.
And last, but certainly not the least, the duty manager. So during my second visit, my friends talked to the manager while ordering food and apparently, he was complaining about not having enough staff at the time. We went there almost an hour before closing time and there wasn't much people in the restaurant. But there was 2/3 tables still left to be cleaned. We were a big group of 10 people, so naturally we decided to join tables so we can dine together. But we couldn't join one of the tables because it still wasn't cleaned. One of my friend saw that the manager was putting down the "washed" cutleries, so he called him over (very politely) and asked him if could get the table cleaned, so that we can all dine together. Apparently this was enough to crack a wire in his brain. The manager started laughing and in a rude sarcastic tone said (Paraphrasing a bit here) "Yeah thanks for bringing that to my attention. As you saw I was just standing there doing nothing. I was relaxing all day but now that you can shown me there is work to be done, I will get right on it."
At first I thought he was a racist ahole, who just tried to embarrass my friend as his english wasn't good enough. My friend didn't even understand what happened until I explained it to him. Well, after reading a couple of reviews here, it turns out the manager might not be a racist ahole. He is just a run of the mill a**hole. So that's a big win.
Will ever eat there again? Yes, if they pay me to eat their food in perpetuity and cover my medical expenses when I get sick, after the manager has been...
Read moreI'm a chef of 26 years , went to Nando's at 9:30pm to order dinner (I had worked from 7:30am til 7:30pm ) First I was dismayed to see that the human element had been taken away and we were told we had to download an app in order to order a meal ,or have a QR code scanner. When I swore at the situation and not the manager she became very defensive and rude. There were no other customers in the store and a perfectly good till there that could take our order. My friend has eaten all around the world as an MP and was disgusted with her behaviour. Instead of doing the hospitality side of her job ,she blamed head office in Australia for the ordering system. Instead of finding a solution, as I don't have those apps on my phone ,she then proceeded to get a "young man to come help us ", we waited figuring she meant with our online order. Only for her to say after about 5 minutes of rudeness and telling me not to swear(which I hadn't towards any staff) that he was able to take our order from the till🙄🙄🤦🤦🤦 she lost over $50 of revenue and 2 customers that will never return, because of her being a very rude and inexperienced manager. We walked out and the sad part is that I could see her staff laughing at us telling her off and they looked uncomfortable with her. Never ever will I eat there again and I hope you find a new manager as I would of fired her...
Read moreA star for the food which was delicious, mouthwatering. It seems the staffs here was having a hectic day and don’t look like they are a Hospitality workers, we order our food which wasn’t on our table after long waiting too, and we asked them for our order still ignore us. We literally saw our fries on the pass table, and ask a boy staff for the fries (we asked him like hey mate that must be our fries, would you please ask your chef if it might be cause we been waiting for our food??), freaking ignore it and start to clean toilet 😂. At the end it was our fries but it was saugy while sitting down on pass table for more than a quarter of an hour. Logically, I consider Nando’s as a well established brand but me and my 3 other mates got really bad experience with this Bay fair branch and staffs which changed our whole point of view for the lifetime. I guess Karen dine in will be better on hospitality than this Bay fair...
