NT Cafe and bakery — Restaurant in North Island

Bought a custard square, hot chips and a pie. Didn't notice the custard square was old and cracked - no way I was going to eat that. Hot chips average, too salty and soggy. I was waiting to pay but she went over to the microwave to heat up the pie - WHY??????? I've never come across this at a bakery. She didn't say what she was doing so I was in shock. It made the pie too hot and soggy. She couldn't smile, so unfriendly and no communication. I thought maybe she was having a rough day but it looks like from the reviews this is the way she is. I did bring the custard square back on my return travels and asked for my money back but she just stared into space and then went over to the cabinet with her tongs and got another one that looked better, she handed it to me and I took it out of hunger and then offered me a bag after i already took it, which I declined. My experience of this place is BAD. First, I ordered the Hawaiian burger which took about 45 minutes to come out .The staff were unfriendly, and there was nothing vegetarian apart from the toasted sandwiches. The chips were a bit stale and so salty it tasted horrible. I would NOT recommend to anyone with dietary needs, as a member of my party who is vegan ordered a soy iced coffee as they do not consume any dairy products but when the coffee came out whipped cream was on top of the whole thing, so they made a new which they put ice cream in... what.. why. When we asked if we could have a new one with NO dairy they said they would not make a new one and that there was no dairy in it whilst also saying it had ice cream in it. Do...

Staff are rude and extremely unhelpful. I asked if any of their sandwiches didn't have mayonnaise and it was like if I asked for something completely random and mind blowing difficult. Then despite a sign that said let them know about food allergies, and they'd cater for it, when i asked if they could make a sandwich without mayonnaise I had eyes rolled and a stomp out to the kitchen. Not surprisingly I told them not to worry and took my business elsewhere. Do not stop here. Go a few shops down the road...
