From the moment I stepped into Own Masala indian restaurant I was transported to the vibrant streets of India. The aroma of spices greeted me warmly, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.🤩❤️ Food: Each dish was a masterpiece. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The naan was freshly baked, soft, and perfect for scooping up the flavourful curries. The Chicken biryani was aromatic, with tender pieces of meat and perfectly cooked rice.😋 Service: The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, Their genuine hospitality made us feel like honoured guests.🙏☺️😊 Ambiance: The decor was a beautiful blend of traditional Indian art and modern elegance with amazing paintings and beautiful dark cozy ambiance lovely. Soft lighting and soothing music created a cozy and inviting atmosphere.🖼️
Overall Experience: Own Masala offers an authentic taste of India, right here in Tauranga. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is a must-visit....
Read moreFirst impression of this restaurant was not great. The staff welcomed my friends and I but we felt they were unprofessional being on their phones and watching videos on the television also they were cleaning and resetting all the tables around us and sweeping the floor while we were still trying to enjoy our meal which we felt was disturbing us.
As for the food itself we asked for suggestions on the food and we went with what the waiter suggested. The Naan bread was crispy on the outside but still doughy underneath which was quite unpleasant as well as tasteless. As for the other dishes they were quite tasteless as well. We left quite a bit of the meal behind due to being displeased with majority of it. One dish we had which was the Malai Kofta we found the curry itself was nice but the kofta not so much.
Overall we were dissapointed with our experience at this restaurant and will most likely not be returning. 4th of march...
Read moreWe ordered a Spinach and Potato Curry, 2 Naan and a Kadai Paneer. The food was tasteless and not reduced, rather thickened with something sticky and unpalatable. The Paneer tasted old, the Naan is not proper Naan. The food was inedible, we had to throw it out. How can people possibly consider this food to be worthy of eating? I am not Indian, but can make much more tasty Indian food than this, using quality ingredients. This is the 2nd Tauranga restaurant we have attended that is so below par that it should be illegal. What low quality Indian food, and clearly the reviews are questionable. Get a new Chef, this is an insult to people who understand what good food is. How can you serve such pasty, sickly food with not a single hint of spice in the Spinach. Shame on you for robbing the customer and passing off your food as edible. You should close down until you have learnt how to serve...
