While we’re not typical fast food eaters - lucky if we set foot in the major brand places once a year - Burger Fuel is an exception. Especially when we’re on the road, we’ll literally seek it out beforehand, considering the proximity of a store when we’re planning accommodation. Usually it works out well. Cameron Road Tauranga was a different experience tonight, however. Ordered online, it said a 30 minute wait. I got there after 28 minutes and it was done already. Great! Except… turns out it must have been done for a while. Our motel was 3 minutes down the road, so I can’t believe it went cold during that time, but that’s what it was when I got back. A struggle to call it lukewarm. The person in store was really nice, but that can’t rate highly when the fundamental of making hot food can’t be met. To top it off, some of the chips were undercooked and crunchy. The cooked ones cold and soggy. The stupid thing is, I could have got there a lot earlier than the 30 minutes the app advised. Too tired and hungry after hours on the road, we didn’t have the energy to go back and complain, wait for a new order, especially with a young child who needed food and bed. Frustrating, really. Why cook an order much earlier than the prescribed time, and leave a loyal customer...
Read moreWe drive to papamoa or Bethlehem or the mount for bf. Even though this store is only a few minutes away...which would be more convenient.... It's too traumatizing coming here ! My 2 experiences were dirty shop, rubbish all over the floor in the kitchen, rubbish bins overflowing , unclean looking staff, no gloves, Our food was awful, not anything like the picture, we had sauce, a patty and that was it on our burgers? Nothing else? Both times .... It's just so unclean and awful in here. The reviews are so bad...going back year's, right up until now. Why has this place not improved and line the standard you get at the other 3 Tauranga stores ? And no I don't want t o private email you.... I'm sure the burger fuel franchise must be interested as this is the weakest link and ruining the name of the brand.... burger fuel is delicious at Bethlehem, the Mt and papamoa..and Rotorua...
Read moreThis is really only a review of the sole vegan option, the V8 burger.
The sauces are tasty, which is probably the best thing about it. There’s a lot of lettuce which seemed to account for much of the burger’s height.
Standard plain white burger bun, nothing to write home about.
The patty itself isn’t as big and bulky as the pictures would have you expect. It tastes fine, but doesn’t have much flavour, i took it out to eat it because I couldn’t taste it in the burger.
The vegan cheese is good, but not much on there, and again gets a little lost in the sauces and lettuce.
The burger is not huge, average adult would need two for a decent feed.
Is a good burger, and would have perhaps gained another star if it...
