One of the few depressing things about living in Northland is the absence of South Indian food. Nearly all Indian restaurants serve rich North Indian food. By contrast, Auckland - especially the suburb of Sandringham - has many South Indian restaurants, many of them incredibly tasty and cheap eats. So, on a visit to Whangarei, we were thrilled to find Khane Barhar South Indian Maunu.
