Was a hit and miss situation when choosing the slices as it was not mentioned on the Display. Ended up with a Walnut Slice and a Chocolate Cookie One. They were both nice, but I really loved the flavors of the Walnut one as it had a crunchy texture as well. The Cookie slice was abit densem but the flavor was okay. The Hot Chocolate however was not one of my favorite as it felt abit blend. Overall okay 👌. Will definitely go back to try some more sweet treats 😋

My friend chose this cafe - thought Id try it out. Asked for a large takeaway latte. Quadshot. Specified 55-60'C - "not too hot" came out super hot and over extracted. Not drinkable. My friends coffee was overextracted too. Staff were really nice - date scone was yummy enough. Friendly staff! Just dont get the coffee from here-Forum in Milton is consistently much better (my usual stop.) (Sorry guys)

Wednesday 5th July. Was here today when passing through Balclutha on way back to Invercargill. Stopped in for coffee and lunch. Staff courteous and polite and food was good. No fault of the cafe itself but the women with here two feral children weren't particularly endearing. Never the less, not a bad stop over and I'd be willing to come back when passing through again.

If I could give no stars I would. Was looking forward to a lovely lunch with family and friends yesterday in the new heart and soul cafe which has just been reopened, beautiful environment nicely set up. But the food? Terrible. Brought a satay burger, $17.50 and a milkshake $4.50, milkshake took 20 minutes to arrive to the table and it wasn't very busy and wasn't flavoured well whatsoever. And the food took a good 35-40 minutes to arrive, and when it did, it didn't look as expected when I asked the waitress if it was the satay burger I was told " I don't know I was just told to bring it here" once it was put on the table I just seen it going wrong from there.. burger was what I ordered and what I got was a bagel bun that was far too toasted I could hardly cut it with a knife, it came with an egg, not what I was expecting at all, satay chicken with an egg? Hmm. Once egg removed I seen it was actually just a chargrilled patty with some sauce and not to my pleasure the chargrilled chicken patty seemed microwaved it was incredibly rubbery and not enjoyable whatsoever. Would not recommend to anyone, scenery is nice, staff are not trained 'they should know what they're serving!' And the meal was not worth the $17.50 I paid, I wish I had asked for a refund....

The Heart & Soul Café Club

In Balclutha town, both far and wide, There’s a cafĂ© where the old boys hide. The Heart & Soul, a sacred space, For coffee, food, and life’s debate.

The espresso’s hot, the toasties grand, With ham, cheese, tomato—perfectly planned. And let’s not forget the bacon and eggs, So good they’d bring tears to even hard-nosed dregs.

Around a table, the gents retire, Debating the world with endless fire. Politics, rugby, the price of a cow, And stopping bird flu—but nobody knows how!

“Cull the lot!” says Jack with a frown, “Just vaccinate!” yells old Tom Brown. Jim just slurps his coffee tight, Muttering, “Blokes, Google’s free, all right?”

The waitresses glide with grace and skill, Refilling cups, avoiding spills. A wink, a joke, a knowing grin, With service so smooth, they always win.

So if you’re in town, don’t just stroll, Pull up a chair at Heart & Soul. A feed so good, a chat so grand, You’ll leave with a full belly—and...
