For the past couple of years, Star of India in Palmerston North has been our go-to for a reliable and tasty Indian meal. We've been loyal patrons and always enjoyed the food. However, our recent experience was so concerning that we won't be returning.

We ordered our usual, including the chicken tikka. Unfortunately, the chicken was significantly undercooked. This was not just a minor oversight; it was alarmingly raw in parts. As a result, both of us felt unwell later that night.

This incident is a huge letdown and suggests a serious decline in food safety standards. It's incredibly disheartening to see the quality of a restaurant we once trusted deteriorate to this extent. Food poisoning is not something to be taken lightly, and this experience has completely eroded our confidence in Star of India.

It's a shame, as we have many positive memories of meals from here. However, the risk of a repeat experience, especially with such a basic and crucial element like properly cooked chicken, is too high. We will now be looking for a new Indian restaurant in Palmerston North.

Really dissapionted, first time at this place. Me and my partner eat out vegetarian Indian often and our favorite dish Palak paneer was just awful. Just minced paneer and uncooked, roughly chopped spinich with no flavour that made a weird gelatinous dish dripping water. I never complain on reivews but I can't believe anyone would sell that let alone charge $14. Threw it out, couldn't actually eat it. The dal makhn was ok, not great. I recently ordered takeaway from Star India, and it was a delightful experience. The Palak Paneer was just awesome. The creamy spinach gravy and tender paneer pieces were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Also the Indian style Chicken Curry was equally impressive. It was perfectly prepared and customized to my preferences, showcasing a delicious blend of spices that made every bite enjoyable.
