The Bees Knees Cafe — Restaurant in Palmerston North

Service was good and quick but was a bit disappointed in the food presented. Ordered toasted sandwiches (Ham, cheese and pineapple). They came out well prepared and piping hot with large slices of pineapple. Unfortunately the sandwich then had a sauce drizzled over it, which I did not expect and did not like. I asked and was told it was a black sauce. Exactly what sort of black sauce I did not find out, but spicey types of sauce do not agree with me and this did not suit the flavour of the sandwich. I suggested that they might ask customers in future if they wanted the sauce. In addition, we both found our coffees somewhat bitter to taste (Mochachino and Single Shot Flat White) which could have been burnt, old, change of brand or some old grounds still in the press when new were added after the last batch was made. But left a bitter taste in the mouth. On a positive note the Chocolate Eclairs were very nice and melted...

Holy dooly bees knees cafe you truly are THE BEES KNEES 💜 me and my partner had a date and orange scone on Sunday morning and were absolutely flabbergasted. We have both never had a scone as flavorsome with both the caramelly date and citrusy orange flavors well balanced and present. Secondly, the texture!!! It was heaven with a lovely crisp top and then the lightest and softest middle you could ask for in a scone. Not only was it delicious but it was great value for money with the size of it (7.50 and the size of at least 2 scones from munch). The coffee was also fantastic with a strong hit and velvety milk. Finally the staff were also utter gems! Delivering service with smiles whilst being under the pump from all the crowds from the market next door. Unforrunately, we didn't want to sit in long as the cafe seemed to be bursting at the seams with people. We will definately be back...

Excellent service and a nice cosy atmosphere, it's a small quaint place with a lot of character and is a quiet spot to enjoy some sun. A few comments of note, the order was incorrect the first time however was quickly remedied.

However the stawberry matcha was far from expectation. Was not worth the $10. The matcha was of good quality, the stawberry however was a sweet syrup icecream like topping. The straws fell apart after a short while trying to suck the strawberry liquid up it and majoratively getting stuck.

The other drink being a regular iced matcha with cinnamon which sadly the cinnamon was not mixed at all it was just floating on the top and made for a gritty texture.
