What a revelation this place is. If you want a calming environment there could be nothing better than the park like view of the golf course. Instant entertainment too, who would have thought the golfers have robotic golf bags that trundle by themselves from hole to hole. We are glad we booked as the place filled up rapidly after twelve. All 5 of us were impressed with the food and the pasta of the day, creamy bacon and mushroom was a standout. Our after lunch coffees were a little slow arriving but considering the crowd and our after lunch slices it was great to have a wee breather. On the whole we were impressed with the location and food. Service staff are outstanding. Meal prices are better than average and the food is delicious. At the entrance is a small dog area with a bowl of water for your dog. I can image if you live in the Hokowhitu area it would be a nice stroll on a summer day. We will definitely be back. Saw a sign outside the golf club saying all were welcome at the cafe and so we called in. Food and coffee were top notch and the service friendly and prompt. Unfortunately as we are not golfers we were unaware of the unwritten rule all ordinary people must stand to attention when entering the presence of golfers. An incredibly rude woman sought us out in the middle of the cafe to loudly verbally accost us in public because we did not know “golfers have the right of way” when entering the golf club. It’s hard not to assume she is indicative of the attitude of the club as a whole. Do not expect to be welcomed if you are not “the right sort” The food and service here is well worth a visit. It's says it's open to all - it is but golfers are preferred. My friend and I were asked to leave in advance of "the golfers coming in in a minute" despite us sitting at a non reserved table and there being many tables empty. The gentleman who served us also looked at his watch frequently while we ate and seemed annoyed to have us there.
