I booked a reservation for today (Fathers Day 2025) and requested a high chair. We arrived before 1pm and the girl lead us to our table. Mind you, we have eaten out at different restaurants and reserved tables before and upon arriving our table and any requirements would already be set up. This was not the case here today at Goodhome Takanini. We got to our table, it only had 2 chairs for a family of 4 with no high chair. We had to ask for our high chair so im not quite sure why you have a ‘specials request’ on your booking if you dont read them. We were left standing there waiting for the rest of the seat/highchair and we were seated infront of the kitchen so we were standing together with the waitstaff waiting for our seats. Our table was a massive circle table so we were sitting quite far from my kids and had to shuffle around but then we would be too close to the table next to us. After placing order my babys food came out nice and fast and thats really where it ends. Food took an hour to get to us by then our baby was overstimulated by the crowd so we had to pack our food takeaway and come eat it at home. I understand it was busy/stressful, i have worked in customer service. We just felt like forgotten noone came to us to let us know it wont be long, we were right in front of the chaos of the kitchen so we heard everything in the kitchen including complaints so it made our atmosphere abit stressful and couldnt have a converstaion over the kitchen chaos. If i would have advice from someone who worked in customer service, stop taking orders and work on the orders already taken. If full house already dont be aftaid to tell people theres a wait for tables unless they booked. Food was ok when we got home, they got my husband order wrong but its ok its only fathers day right lol we spent over $300 and i dont think we...

The moment we walked in, a waiter approached to organise a table. The table was cleared by one waiter and seconds later another with a cloth. Like clockwork! We had the salt and pepper calamari as a starter and were delivered a hefty plate of perfectly fried calamari within 10 minutes of ordering. The calamari was perfect and full of flavour! For a main I had the lamb shank and swapped the mash for duck fat potatoes. I moved the lamb shank and it all fell apart, the meat was tender and bursting with flavour. The potatoes were nice and crispy. Mum had the chicken salad which was loaded with chicken, tomatoes and cucumber. She was very satisfied with it and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of chicken in there! For dessert we shared the sticky date pudding. The dessert was big so a great share. Would definitely recommend it! I tried to find problems with this spot but I couldn't find anything. The atmosphere of this place is fantastic and it has such a nice theme, nice and open, tables are well spaced apart. All our food was received within 10 minutes of ordering (we dined reasonably late so there wasn't too many orders queued one would think). The team brought it all together with fantastic service and beautiful food. Would easily go here again. The best restaurant in Papakura / Takanini by...

I don’t usually write reviews but today we were all left disappointed after what was supposed to be a nice Mother’s Day lunch out. The place is beautiful and most of staff were friendly. When it came to ordering, I asked if I could have a simple steak and chips, with the eggs on the side. The server said she couldn’t make any changes to any of the meals. And said “I’m not allowed to ask the kitchen any questions” which I have never heard of this before while ordering at a restaurant. was such a weird comment. Not sure of her name. I also asked if my grandpa could have his sauce on the side of his snapper, just incase it was too much sauce. She wrote it down but came out later & said sorry we are unable to do this. Just felt like the smallest request was a massive ask here. Also, The brisket was stone cold the mash was cold in the centre as-well. And we got two curry of the day which was explained as the specials before ordering. server later came out to apologise that they have run out of naan bread, didn’t offer any substitute for this and would have been nice to know this before offering the special. For the price you have to pay for these meals we had high expectations but food was all lukewarm - cold , burgers were dry and just over all really dissatisfied &...

First time dining at this branch. Food: Kids chicken tenders bento bowl - my son commented on the tray looking like a prison tray. You could literally count the fries on the plate. The brownie is bite size. For $17.50 i think you can do better. The kids Hawaiian Pizza - served hot, fresh and delicious. 5 spice pork - pork had far too much fat on it. I couldn’t eat it all and my stomach started to turn. In addition, the pork itself was mushy. Was quite bland. The crackle was delicious with a bit of salt. Couldn’t really taste the 5spice either. The aioli that came with the kumara fries was more of a vinegarette and vinegar was really all you could taste. Kumara fries were nice. Chargrill eye-fillet - hubby asked for medium, it arrived medium rare with a few pieces of veg. Fried chicken wings were okay. Katsu burger - filling but there wasn’t much flavour to it. The peri peri slaw just tasted like coleslaw, no spice. Mussels in thai green sauce - edible. $250 later…. I think we’ll spend that elsewhere. Our sever was absolutely lovely, wish i got his name - overall decent space, atmosphere etc

Called same day and luckily got a table for six at six. Located on Gt Sth Rd - on-street parking is thankfully available as it was packed onsite. Arrived a little late and they still greeted my son with no fuss. Situated in my preferred area with banquette seating. Plenty of room (so many places pack you in so closely!); warm environs against winter chill with ABs vs Ireland game on TVs around the spaces. As it was very busy, food was a little slow so the game helped as a distraction. Our hostess was efficient, attentive and friendly. Food was divine… Best pork belly I’ve ever had!!! We also had surf n turf, steak/egg/chips, chicken carbonara and brisket… good portions - everyone was very happy. Brulee was heavenly (sorry ate that too fast to take a pic!). We also had sundaes and apple crumble (needed crumbly crumble tho)… I was celebrating being with my hearts after months apart so I wanted a place ‘more’ special than Dennys. It certainly cost more, but worth every penny. We would definitely come back. Thanks for a great night 💜

Ordered lamb shank served with mash and vegetables. The food came in a pasta bowl, so it wasn't easy to cut the lamb due to the deepness of the bowl. The shank was cooked we'll that the flesh fell off the bone, however the tomato paste sauce was very tangy and slightly bitter and unpleasant to eat. The lamb had parts that were not seasoned. I found a big burnt blob of tomato paste which I presume contributed to the bitter taste. Overall I did like the creamy mashed potatoes and the 4 Courgette slices and 2 carrots. My friend ordered the 5 spices pork belly to which she said was ‘a no spice pork belly’. It came with fried potato pieces, sliced courgettes and carrot pieces. Lacked in flavour and overall meal was bland to eat.
