Upon arrival, we were not greeted or acknowledged by any staff. We waited approximately 15 minutes to be seen at the table, followed by an additional 30-minute wait for fries that had been ordered immediately when we arrived. Our drinks took another 20 minutes to arrive, and the Virgin Mojito was served without mint and any lime. When questioned, we were incorrectly informed that this was standard— despite my professional experience as a bartender and duty manager in multiple bars and five-star restaurants over the past eight years indicating otherwise.
The front-of-house staff woman member displayed an unprofessional attitude, repeatedly responding with vague comments such as “I’ll check” rather than offering clear and courteous communication, such as advising of an expected wait time for meals. Furthermore, the entrées we ordered—two types of momo—only arrived after the main courses had been served. To add to the confusion, we were told only one type had been ordered, even though all 12 guests at our table heard both varieties being requested.
There was also considerable confusion regarding our mains. The Chicken Madras we ordered was never served, and we were given Chicken Curry in place of Goat Curry. Such mistakes are especially concerning when dietary requirements are involved, which in this case were not properly accommodated. I would strongly recommend that staff repeat orders back to the table when taking them, and clearly announce each dish as it is being served to avoid any miscommunication or inconvenience.
Additionally, there was a case of false advertising regarding the Mother’s Day promotion. It was clearly stated—both on the poster displayed in front of the store and confirmed over the phone—that mothers would eat for free. However, this offer was not honoured, and was said upon paying that it is discounted which was both misleading and disappointing.
Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing, both in terms of service and attention to detail. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and don’t recommend you to go...
Read moreWe have gone to Shor Bazaar quite a few times and it remains on our top local eatery list. When we visited last, on a Friday, the brick wall had a lick of white paint and one of the wall had a hand painting done on it. This has added a newness to the restaurant décor. The food remains great and the pricing hasn’t increased unlike many others and according to me, is one of the more reasonable ones. The portion size is good too We ordered Chicken Malai tikka, steamed veg momos, vegetable jhalfrezi, chicken biriyani, kheema naan and vegee naan. The momos and the accompanying chutneys were a big disappointment. The moms were sad looking, had no or very little stuffing with no flavour or seasoning and the same with the chutneys. However the malai tikkas(served on a sizzler) was juicy, tender and flavourful, the jhalfrezi fresh well-seasoned vegetable with bites size paneer pieces in a adequately seasoned tomato gravy, the chicken biryani flavourful. I love the kheema naan for the stuffing and how well cooked the naan was. The same goes for the vegge naan Service is fast and the staff is friendly and...
