Gourmet Burger Co. — Restaurant in Rodney

Came here last night. We asked how long the wait was. Girl behind the till told us 15 minutes so we decided to get food. 2 people infront of us in the line when we ordered then told 35 minute wait. Restaurant was freezing cold so we went to wait it out in our car. My partner and my daughter went in after 35mins thinking our order would be called. This was not the case. We waited just over 1hour before we finally got our food. I asked twice where our food was on to hear excuses and lame attempt at an apology which I didn't feel was very genuine. We were offered a refund however I had to then get back in line to receive. The point is however, staff should check on actual wait times and let customers know what the tru wait time is. Had we have known we would have gone somewhere else because we had a long drive ahead of us and had already worked full days. I heard the staff chatting with customers saying "customers always right" howeved last night when I said to the girl who misinformed us of the wait time she then argued with me to say she didn't say that.

Also the cook or the girl in charge was touching chips and then touching my gf bun and then other buns. This is cross contamination. And also saying out loud how her grill was sticky and hard to get food off. Perhaps clean it. Why is there no obvious line between where meat is being cooked and where the "vegetarian" food is being cooked.

For the price you pay you should put something a bit more definitive into action and staff who are handling food should at least be wearing gloves.

My friend and I went in today in search of a vegan burger. The cheerful couple running the shop cheerfully adapted two vegetarian items on their menu to make it vegan for us. The buns were gluten free, which was awesome. Instead of mayo we had a delicious tomato relish. Well we tried both options- one with smoked mushrooms and beetroot relish, and the other with falafel. Without a doubt these were the two best hamburgers either of us had had ever. My fave was the beetroot and mushroom, but the falafel was not far behind. We came here today right after our daughter had a massive meltdown outside the shop, feeling a bit scattered I walked in sheepishly to make a quick order and unexpectedly was met with the most kindest, genuine service i think I've ever had. He offered to bring our food to us at the playground so our daughter could burn off some toddler tantrum steam and we could relax a bit knowing she would be much happier waiting in the playground. And OMG the burgers were AMAZING!!
