So French Cafe Deli — Restaurant in Rodney

Was looking for. Something different for lunch and came across So French. Ordered a croque-monsieur with Salad and a coffee. There's something relaxing about the place and there are different 'areas' you can choose to sit in. I decided to sit at the window, but there is seating outside. There was a lot of chatter from the staff, which at times got a little loud. I guess they were happy. When the food came, I was surprised by the decent sized salad it came with. Sometimes this is an after thought, but this salad was decent. The monsieur was excellent. It was a decent size, not too rich or greasy. In fact it was quite lite on the palate and it went well with the salad and delicious chutney it came with. It loses a star because I found a black hair in the salad, near the end of the meal. It did not stop me eating the rest of it, as overall it was a good meal and I had eaten 95% of it already. I tried to buy coffee here back in January but gave up after waiting over 15 minutes for one takeaway coffee and asked for a refund. Thought I’d try again today but again the service was super slow - weird process where the barista was making coffees in the order that was more convenient for him rather than in the order people were served meaning I waited fifteen minutes for one coffee even though the cafe wasn’t that busy. Actual coffee was nice enough but madeleines tasted soggy rather than light and crisp - got the sense they weren’t freshly made. Service both times has just been slack - particular mention today to the woman behind the counter who seemed super hungover, even crouching/lying on the floor behind the counter at one point before managing to drag herself up for another swig of her massive can of energy drink. We went for lunch this afternoon with my family and we had such a good time there. The food is incredible and we all ordered something different. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, which is a ham sandwich which has a white sauce and cheese grated over the top, which is then baked in the oven, accompanied with a green salad with seeds and dressing. The glorious amount of creamy sauce and stringy cheese is so so yummy! I think my meal was like $15 which is very good value considerating how MASSIVE my meal was. I also ordered an iced chocolate with a huge dollop of ice-cream in it. It wasn't hugely sweet which I liked but the ice-cream made it so delectable.
