Grazie Italian Ristorante Queenstown — Restaurant in South Island

We waited 1 hour 15 minutes for our meal, we watched a whole episode of masterchef and we’re still waiting. There were only 2 other couples waiting and a single person so this long of a wait was ridiculous. When we received our meals, we ordered ribeye steak with potatoes and veges on the side. Veges came first then we waited 10 minutes for the steak. When we received the steak, waiter bought it out with fries letting us know potatoes were not available. We said ok as there were no other option. We would’ve appreciated being asked if there was any other side we wanted rather than shoving fries infront of us, leaving us no other option. The ribeye steak tasted gamy and was well done - we asked for medium rare - could see the photo showing well done. It was not edible so had to send it back - we got asked if we wanted the same meat so we declined. There was no apology or good hospitality given to us. My partner ended up eating veges only so we had to drive to town to get a ferg pie which was amazing! We also ordered the bolognaise and although the beef was slow cooked it was still chewy. The side veges were good which is why we have given it a 1 star. Not a pleasant restaurant to be dining in and will not return. By the way - worse steak...

This is very much an average motel restaurant, despite a lovely building and outlook the food and service were disappointing. The staff were lovely but despite an almost empty restaurant the service was very slow. I ordered the eye fillet which was the only steak on the menu and got a very average steak which was definitely not eye fillet. The waitress to her credit didn’t charge for it when I raised this, and apologised that the chef had got confused - not sure how you get confused when you only have one steak on the menu. The other food was ok, not terrible but definitely not worth the money when there are so many other good options in the area. I'm gonna be honest my first time here I wasn't expecting much. There was only one server, Hugo who is the most hard-working and all around staff and he does the bartending as well. I commend him for his pleasant demeanor in attending to all the clients. Everything exceeded my expectations especially the food that I had to come back the following day. Compliments to the chef/s. First day I had the steak which was very tender and cooked to my liking(medium). 2nd day I had the Arancini and Gnocchi which were fabulous.
