I was a bit apprehensive about the resort based on some previous comments but I was pleasantly surprised to find the accommodation was very good. Obviously this unit (No 16) had been refurbished and everything was clean and modern. The view was spectacular out over the lake and up to the snow-capped mountains. The unit was 3 bedroom with one bedroom downstairs with ensuite and two upstairs with bathroom. As per previous comments there is no air conditioning but plenty of heaters and a wood fire. We only used the heaters and they were more than adequate. Not sure about summer if the heat might be a problem. Previous comments mentioned $25 for parking but we had free parking outside the unit all be it on a bit of an awkward slope and every unit we saw had the same. Yes, there was ample parking on the street but not needed. The unit had a TV with limited channels. While the list of channels suggested a wide range when trying to access you were told a subscription was required. There was an outside jacuzzi which was heated but we didn't partake (rain and snow). The kitchen was well stocked with enough utensils, dishes etc and the fridge was a good size. The microwave was the only appliance that didn't look new and the stove, washing machine and dryer were easy to use. There was the usual tea/coffee making ingredients. The check-in was fast and friendly and the housekeeping bloke took our keys to save us the trouble of driving up to checkout. All in all I would definitely...
Read moreOverlooks the lake and the Remarkables. They are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south.
It's an extremely steep, rugged mountain range that extends to 2,234 m and is a prominent part of the quintessential Queenstown landscape.
Over the summer months, you can take a scenic drive up to the ski field base (about one hour from downtown Queenstown) where there are plenty of walking opportunities. You can go for a quick walk up to Lake Alta, or for more keen mountaineers, you can climb to the summit of Single Cone (2319 metres) where there's an outstanding view over all of the Lake Wakatipu Basin.
Climb to the picturesque glacial Lake Alta. 2.4 km return via same track. 90 minutes walking and tramping.
Remarkables skifield base building is 1600 metres high above sealevel and climbs to Lake Alta (1800 metres).
The track begins on the road behind the Remarkables skifield buildings and follows a skifield road to the top of the Alta Chairlift. From there, cairns and flagstones mark the way through alpine wetlands, up to the lake.
Starting from the south of the Kawarau River on the eastern side of Lake Wakatipu, turn off SH 6 at the signposted junction to the Remarkables ski area. Drive up the road to the...
Read moreWe stayed at this resort as timeshare members and sometimes these timeshare properties can be a liile run down. This property was an exception. While obviously not a new build the complex and gardens are very well maintained. Gaining access after hours was a brezze with keys left in a lock box.||Once in the unit we found it to be a very spacious 3 bdrm apartment and impeccably clean. The sofas and beds were very comfortable and the extra amenities such as the log burner and privat spa on the deck were well used and appreciated by us during the chilly nights.||The view over the lake was mesmerizing and always something to watch or see happening on the lake every day.||The location is also good as it positioned between the bussle of Queenstown and the service area of Frankton and airport with easy drive to Amisfield winery and Ayrburn without negotiating Queenstown traffic snarl.||The only negative would be the sloping access if you were not sure of foot or disabled as the entry and parking is on a steep slope with several steps down to the unit.||A great spot and one of the better timeshares we have stayed in...
