As a restaurant in the Hilton Resort & Spa, I expected more. But the Margarita pizza tasted like frozen boxed pizza, and everything else we ordered was overpriced for what was served, or just meh.
If you're dragged here by lack of choice or a sports-obsessed member of your party, you'll notice one plus for health-conscious eaters: they offer a big bowl of steamed veggies as a side (ask to hold the cracked pepper if you're serving to a child). However, the Wakatipu Grill next door does far better veggie sides, and has more options.
I was glad to see they had a Beyond veggie burger on the menu but it was hard to understand why it was priced at $32...
Neighbourhood bar vibes, domestic beers, sports on the telly. Ok in a pinch or to placate anyone nostalgic for a touch of the old NZ norm, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Last note - Hope for Hilton that they choose to invest in improvements - this could be a sports bar taken to a level that matches the...
Read moreWe ate at Stacks Pizza and Burger Bar during our stay and loved it so much that we ordered takeaway twice to enjoy back in our suite by the fire pit. The food was excellent – we had the meat feast pizza (without red onion), pork burger, potato wedges, shoestring fries, and calamari. Every dish was full of flavour, cooked perfectly, and really satisfying.
Service was kind and friendly, and the food was ready in no more than 15 minutes, which was impressive. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself was lively and welcoming – people watching the rugby, enjoying drinks, and families sharing meals. A great extra touch was the games room just opposite, with table tennis and a pool table, making it a fun spot for everyone.
Stacks is also very convenient if you’re staying at the Hilton – whether dining in or taking food back to your room, it’s quick, easy, and delicious. I’ll definitely be back if I return to Queenstown and highly...
Read moreStacks is a local favourite of ours for taking the whole family or just the two of us. The staff are ALWAYS superbly accomodating, great deals offered regularly like half price pizzas or two for one drinks. The setting is warm and inviting -perfect winter place to cosy in, and then lovely out in the ‘courtyard’ in summer too. If you are staying at the Hilton you’d be silly not to utilise this place properly, and if you are a local this should be on your regular list!!! Sunday dinner, coffee, boozy lunch, post mountain, rugby and drinks, family meal time or date night this is one for...
