Point 1 is we love the pies and cakes. For a bakery that's a key message BUT I've had 3 recent bad experiences. I had my Aussie son in law and his family coming to dinner and they requested a pie night. I ordered 30 pies of specific fillings and cold for me to heat up. It was more than two weeks ahead so on the day i could pop in and pick them up. UNFORTUNATELY not only wasn't my order ready but they didn't have pies with the fillings I'd ordered. I did take what they did have. No apology. Next before Easter I asked if their buns had peel. The assistant asked me what is peel then she went to the baker and asked him. No he said. I said then I won't buy any today. She replied in a stunned voice.. you actually want peel???? And then this week I wanted a load of bread. The bread rolls are uncovered and alongside where the public stand so I choose bread in a bag. I asked the assistant wearing a piccolo morso branded tshirt for it to be toast sliced. He took the bread from the bag with his bare hands, ran it through the slicing machine then had trouble getting all the slices to go back in the bag so he handled the bread a lot. I told him he should have used gloves because he was also handling money, tongs, and his uncovered hair. I did buy the bread as it will all be toasted but instead of t shirts the shop should invest in staff training and customer service. I don't know if...

My partner and I came to check out this bakery. We brought a double steak and cheese pie, “ nz number one custard square” a large cookie and a couple of drinks from the fridge. This totalled $38 which for the sub par food we got I think was extremely over priced. The pie, was far too hot to eat straight away (you should be able to) pastry was way to over cooked ( potentially due to pie warmer being too hot) overall flavour was ok, but definitely didn’t reflect the price of the pie. Custard square - not too sure if the recipe has changed since this was judged the best in NZ, because it was flavourless and definitely not worthy to be labelled how it was. The cookie tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for too long and needed warming up to enjoy it. I would hope a cookie with a $12 price tag on it was baked fresh daily ( which it didn’t seem to be) drinks were nice and cold tho! They nailed that part. I think this place is over hyped...

I’ve been following this spot’s instagram since they won an award on their custard square mid-late 2024. Unfortunately some food joints are one hit wonders but it’s safe to say this isn’t one of them. You won’t be disappointed if you came in here for anything to fulfil your sweet tooth needs. However, it’s the Pie game turned up to maximum ’Farkery’ level I’m here for. Wow, it’s like they just woke up and decided the pie can be a main event. I’ve now done the Nacho Pie and they recently brought back the Steak Bacon and Cheese. Its just absolutely done right from the pastry to the gravy, chunky tender steak and bacon bits with a good amount of cheese edge to edge so you can get as much combination bites as possible before you need to chase the filling around lol You won’t be disappointed making this your go to spot as it’s open almost all the time or whenever you need a decent pie and...

Was finally able to try their pies after following them on Facebook for months. I was not disappointed. We got the classic pies to start with and they were delicious. They had the perfect filling to pastry ratio. We will definitely come back for the other flavours and we have to try the baked goods next time as well. Good service, and they have indoor seats and nice outdoor seating as well. Arrived here around 1pm and there were plenty of seats available.

The pies here are not bad. I enjoyed the mince & cheese, steak/cheese/jalapeño, and chicken/cranberry/brie. The award-winning items didn’t wow me (the Vegan Korma Pie was a bit bland and the custard square was dense and more floury than creamy.), but the weekly specials and cream-filled donuts are definitely worth coming back for.
