Extremely disappointed and feel ripped off to say the least! Checked in 27th Dec 2021, checked out 31st Dec 2021 We stayed in what they call "the flat" assuming it's one of their biggest Motel Units. It was a complete dive! Arrived to find the room old, dated, dirty with a weird smell. None of our glassware was clean with greasy fingerprints all over them, a curled up black hair in our cutlery drawer which too was dirty, called reception and asked them to come and clean it all, which they did. The fridge was turned off and warm. The cupboards have a very strong musty smell. The carpet felt so old and gross to walk on that I asked our kids to not play on the floor. Our bunk beds weren't even made, bedding was left for us to do. Dead cochroahes and flies in the windowsills of the bedrooms. The shower was old and the pressure was terrible. We had no hot water for 2 days in our unit, which the park rectified and refunded us $300 for "the inconvenience" There is no nice outdoor seating area to sit and relax, your car is nosed right up to your front door. Out our back door was a dump site with a big compost heap riddled with flies. Bad fly problem throughout the whole unit, atleast they supplied fly spray. Cooking utensils were skimp, old and blunt. Fridge in our room didn't sit flat on the floor, was on a lean. No shampoo, conditioner, body wash or flannels supplied. Servicing of the unit includes a rude cleaner poking her head in your door to give you new towels etc every 2 days only. No replenishments of coffee, sugar etc. We were a large family, day 2 I asked the cleaner if they atleast vacuum the carpet, I was told no but to help myself to the vacuum cleaner in the communial lounge which was old and fell apart, let alone it didn't even suck properly. Washing machine and driers old and overpriced $4 per machine. If you want a Spa you pay an extra $5 per person which was run down and dirty. The swimming pool is deep, no shallow area. Puddles on the driveway on a hot summers day outside our room which indicates possible underground leaks. After I cleaned the unit myself after going out to buy spray & wipe, my paper towels were black. The beds extremely old and uncomfortable. All doors made a horrendous screeching noise when opening and closing. None of them closed properly, bathroom door was swollen and split at the bottom. No lock on the toilet door. No SKY or Aircon. Parking for all guests was really tight with no room to move. If your really lucky like we were on your way out upon check out you will get to listen to the two male cleaners in the room next door F bombing and swearing while they have a great catch up for everyone to hear. There was nothing enjoyable at all about our stay. Absolute zero service. We stayed 4 x nights at a whopping $420 PER NIGHT and couldn't wait to get out and go home. I've gone back through over 5 years worth of reviews on this place (wish I had done that before booking) and we don't seem to be alone. I also see the same lazy response from this park on each review "thanks for your feedback, we will address this" complete bullocks. This place shouldn't be open! Worst accommodation we have ever stayed at, clearly will never return. Ripping people off, creaming alot of money but putting absolutely none of that back into the park for upkeep and maintenance. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself Top 10 New Plymouth, you put the "Top 10"...

Very expensive for what you get. Every other top ten holiday park.is 100 times better an cheaper. You can stay at nice modern motels for alot cheaper, the cooking utensils are minimal, the.beds are very uncomfortable, no soap, sauna prices are ridiculous for the price you are paying for the tiny room with just one double bed an a TV, rec room is nothing special, WiFi an internet access is ridiculously expensive an TV channel selection is minimal, there are many motels in New Plymouth that are way cheaper an you get a whole room with 2 double.beds an a couch.an dining area with sky TV with 40 channels free spa an saunas an enough room to actually entertain a family in the room not like top ten where there's barely enough room to walk.around in, would never go back an have advised all my family that is traveling down for a family reunion not to go there ever. Sorry top ten I'm a nice guy but I travel every week for my work.an in my 30 years or staying in holiday parks this has been by far the worst ever. Please don't take this the wrong.way but take it as a wake up call that you need to change alot to compete in todays accommodation market because to be honest I would be ashamed of what you are doing, the staff is friendly and nice so I'm sure you can turn it around but after staying in 2 different holiday parks/ motels for work as I travel constantly every week for the last 20- 30 odd years which is around a 100 stays a year around new Zealand this place is honestly the.worst an I only say that to give you a wake up call that it is very bad but there is alot of potential. Cheers, hope to see you do weel...

Christine was lovely to deal with and had a polite phone manner when making the booking, she is perhaps the only redeeming feature of the park I could find sadly.

"Pet Friendly". This park TOLERATES animals but is certainly not pet friendly. Dogs must be kept "out of sight " leave them in your car or your caravan and they can't be walked around the park so you need to drive them 5 mins to a park so they can relieve themselves and run, they charge you 5$ a night for the privilege which is outright absurd.

The toilet block allocated to my section had 3 toilets and a shower. Only one of the toilets was unlocked so for my one night stay, of the 6 times used the toilet, only 2 times could I use the one near my site, all other times I had to walk to the main block. Incredibly tight behaviour.

When I arrived at Waitomo Top Ten and revealed my experience at NP Top 10, the receptionist actually said that they hear this often and that New Plymouth is notorious for being a second rate park. Not a great look for a brand I have confidence in.

Hoping this is some constructive criticism for an under preforming park. ( in my opinion )

Once again thank you to Christine who was a complete darling...

Located close to the wonderful Fitzroy Beach, New Plymouth TOP 10 Holiday Park provides a range of accommodation options from tent sites, to basic cabins to fully furnished self-contained motel units. The motel units were quite expensive (over $200 per night for 1 adult and two children), but they were quite spacious and well set up. The pool is small and deep with no shallow end, so not suitable for less confident swimmers, especially smaller children swimming without a supervising adult in the water with them. The have a small playground, but it was sufficient to keep my kids entertained. The redeeming feature of this place (apart from proximity to the beach) was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. It probably was not enough for us to go back though.

Very helpful staff. Brilliant free showers with plenty of hot water. The site is clean and well kept. No hesitation in going back again. I was there for 10 days for the Sustainable Gardens event. Never any problems. Quiet at night, even when they had school children there. Easy walk into Fitzroy where there is a popular (if slightly pricey) wine bar that does great bar food to accompany the vino. Make sure your camper will fit the space. Only negative is the limited internet. These days we all expect it to be included in the overall price. Hence I only saw half my film on Netflix.

My initial feeling was disappointment as I was given a studio without a back window making it seem very dark. It was small but that was clear when I booked. It was probably built in the 70’s but has been updated since, except perhaps for the window latches which need replacing. The management were helpful and friendly. It is set in a quiet suburb, with a short drive to supermarket. It is a ten minute walk to the beach, but the pool was pleasant. Currently $4 laundry.
