160 Hobsonville Point Cafe — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

This was my first visit here so I cannot compare to the past. The food was tasty, a bit on the pricey side, but where isn't these days. They offered to heat up food, cream on the side etc. I did not purchase a drink as I took my own water bottle. The place offers a play space indoors for children, and this was in need of a clean, stuffed toys wrre filthy, and a Thomas train toy which children blew into to make it whistle was terrible choice in the era of Covid-19, now I have to hope my children don't get sick. The baby gate was broken so not secure if you have a child who may escape - as the store fronts a street. I did like that they provided plastic cups for children to use, this is a plus. I did not use the bathroom facilities so no idea if they're family friendly or not (as in a change table or hand towels etc). Staff were very friendly and welcoming and did accommodate requests which was a nice touch. Parking in this area is poor; which is the downside of Hobsonville, few too many, too narrow, too short, awful...

Food was really good and it was a generous portion. I ordered the Big Brekkie to share and it was enough for two adults and one little one to share.

I must admit that I initially did not want to leave a positive review as our order was forgotten. I had to go over and ask because our order still hadn’t appeared after 30 mins.

However I changed my mind after seeing how their staff handled their mistake. I wasn’t expecting anything but they gave us a slice of cheesecake as an apology. The owner also brought over some home made marshmallows to help calm my toddler down when he was having a meltdown. I appreciated the extra effort to make us feel welcome.

I have eaten here many times, and have recently completed eating all 41 of the meals on the first two pages of the menu, in order. In my quest, I have realised that none are bad, or disappointing, and some are very pleasantly surprising. My favourites include the Colcannon, Mince on toast, Seafood Fettucine, and the dumplings. My wife gets a vegetarian half-sized big breakfast, and is happy with that. They do a decent large size flat white for those who like it. They are dog-friendly.
