Out Of The Blue Cafe — Restaurant in Waikato

Great coffee. The food was really basic. I wouldn't go back for the food. Small breakfast is two rubbery eggs on cold, dry molenburg toast with one rasher of bacon and one McDonald's looking (but not tasting) hashbrown. $17. Eggs Benedict breakfast was also really basic. No garnish, nothing that earned the $20 we paid for it. Literally an English breakfast muffin from the store, bacon, egg and jar bought hollandaise which had no taste. We were driving through. Should've did a little more scoping of Tairua for a cafe. This cafe is located on the main road, so no nice view to look out on except the busy road. The service was great, the ladies there are lovely. They just need a better cook and a brighter cafe with a better layout that opens the space up for better flow...

Understandably, we had to wait a wee bit longer than usual being a public holiday...but my brunch was well worth the wait! I'll be back for sure. I had almost given up on ever ordering my favourite Eggs Benedict again, due to the last four or five from various other cafes. I'm so tired of thick, gluggy, is-it-from-a-bottle hollandaise. However, here today at 'Out of The Blue', I happened to spy someone else's order of smooth, just-right-consistency hollandaise sitting atop their two perfectly runny eggs, and after hearing that the cafe makes the sauce fresh themselves, I reconsidered my decision and ordered the same. My faith in a good Benny has been renewed!...

The cafe was very quiet when we arrived but despite this it still took a long time to be served by the staff. Upon being served I enquired if they had any vegan options available, having already seen the listed menu I could see that there was in fact a few small things I could possibly eat, but the server proceeded to rudely and simply reply “No, we don’t serve anything vegan” and no again with no further thought to the matter.

Very poor service, would have been understandable in a busy restaurant but since there were two members of staff and no other customers I felt this was unsatisfactory, rude and not in line with good...
