Wagon Wheel Lunch Bar — Restaurant in Waikato

Whilst I do like the food here, I gave only 2 stars because of the rigid rules they have in place that is not good for customer service or keeping your customers loyal but I don't think the owners of this establishment cares about customer service, as is probably confident that this place is a well known establishment in Morrinsville. I asked if I could have two diff flavours for a kids cone ice cream as it only offers one flavour, but the answer was just NO, so I had to ask for the adult size to get two flavours for a child. To be fair, the elderly polynesian lady asked if it was allowed, I don't know if it was the owner she asked. The other server asked if they would give me a discount since I asked to make it in small portions but the polynesian lady said NO. I did not ask for a discount but I thought that was really nice of the other server and I just happen to overhear her. I hope she finds another establishment to work for because she's a good one. I wasn't trying to ask for something for free and I was going to pay for the extra flavour, I even told them that. That kind of unbendable rule is just ridiculous! Wagon Wheel I'm only giving you a star because I can't write a review with none. We stopped to buy a box full of cakes as a special treat for our grandkids, we completely understood and accepted that we were not going to be able to fill the box ourselves, but SHAME on you Wagon Wheel! One of our choices, a custard square, was so off it and the cakes it had touched in the box had to go straight in the rubbish. There is absolutely no way the person serving us could have lifted that custard square out of the cabinet without noticing the icing was grey and cracked and the custard was hard, had changed colour and it too was cracked and separated in several places. But still you put it in our box, said nothing and charged us for it! You obviously don't care about customer satisfaction or return business nor do you care about the disappointment in our house when there weren't enough cakes for everyone to have one each. What a disgraceful way to run a business, we were loyal customers and recommended you to everybody, but you'll never catch us out again, we're not...

This bakery has a large selection of pie flavours, including a vegetarian pie as at today when I visited. I was impressed. They also had some good looking whole and decorated cakes if you need one for a special occasion. Full disclosure, I have only tried the smoked fish pie and hot chips. The hot chips were really nice. I need to go and try the vege pie and also the fish pie again though because the fish pie I had today wasn't the greatest. I couldn't really taste any fish, and the cheese has a strange taste to it, but that might just be my taste buds. The pastry and pie size were all goods. It was luke warm though, which was sad given it was only 8.30am ish. My friend got a steak and cheese pie - she said she wouldn't want to get it again.
