Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting JJ Murphy and Co, an Irish bar located on Cuba Street. It was an experience that left a lasting impression, offering a vibrant atmosphere and a taste of Irish hospitality right in the heart of Wellington. JJ Murphy and Co is a large pub, bustling with activity and brimming with character. One of the standout features of this establishment is its layout, with numerous alcoves and seating booths that create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a quiet corner to chat with friends or seeking a bit of privacy, these alcoves provide the perfect setting. Additionally, the pool area and stage add an extra dimension to the venue, offering entertainment and a focal point for live performances on most nights. The bar boasts a good selection of drinks, catering to a variety of preferences. From Irish whiskeys to locally crafted beers, there is something to please every palate. The attentive and friendly staff were knowledgeable about the offerings, always ready to offer suggestions and recommendations to enhance the overall experience. One of the highlights of JJ Murphy and Co is the opportunity to sit outside and watch the world go by on Cuba Street. It's a fantastic vantage point to soak up the bustling energy of the city while enjoying a refreshing drink or a tasty meal. The eclectic and vibrant atmosphere of Cuba Street perfectly complements the lively ambiance of JJ Murphy and Co, making it a unique and memorable destination. Overall, my visit to JJ Murphy and Co was an enjoyable one. The large pub with its alcoves, seating booths, and entertainment options created a warm and inviting environment. My Welly friends chose to dine here when I was in town for WoW. Location great and staff helpful. Other than this my meal (pork ribs) was quite terrible. The meat did not fall off the bone and the sauce wasn't great either. I didn't finish it as I had no interest in eating meat that had the texture of rubber. Fries and salad were fine. Garlic bread could have been more buttery and should be advertised as "one half of a long bread roll". The man performing didn't really add to the dining experience either. He was way too loud which was a bit odd for dinner time. My friends and I had to yell to conversate and we were sitting close to each other. I would not go back based on this experience.

I was there last night at JJ murphys 18/01/2023 and I had terrible customer experience. The Guy name Hamish who served us was so Rude & arrogant as if he doesnt like his Job. First he Disrespected a female staff by yelling at her in front of whole bar. Then he yelled at a customer in the queue. Later he yelled at us because we asked some assistance for ordering food from the menu. Later on girl 2 staff girls delivered food on our table and they apologized and mentioned that his name is Hamish and he is our manager. He does not treat our staff with respect. I feel bad for those young girls suffering under that Idiot. I hope JJ murphys owner will take action against Idiot Hamish.

We are lunch on a Wednesday in November and it was not super busy. There were plenty of tables and 3 people working the bar so service was good. You order & pay at the bar and they deliver the food to your table when it is ready. I got the Fish & Chips which was very good. The portion was quite large and I did not finish it. The fish was moist and hot without being too greasy. I really liked the chips (French fries), they were crispy outside and fluffy inside - just the way I like them. My wife had the Mince & Cheese pie which she loved. This was a great place to fortify before we continued shopping.

Great place, great food and well priced. We went back twice here in one week just to be able to try another meal given that the first one was so good. I can honestly say the second was even better, I am not sure how they do it at the prices they charge. But dollars to value ratio, it is probably the best in Wellington hands down. They are a true Irish pub and their food serving sizes are huge and really tasty. The pork rack is an absolute must for you big fellas out there, it will fill you up. Wash it down with a beer and that will be your perfect meal with your wife or friends.

We’ve been treated very nicely by manager today in lunch time. I had a really great experience combined with the atmosphere and excellent service. The coffee was really good, not too much bitter. The price was cool as we ordered from the lunch special menu. Food 4/5 because the burger patty had too many onions and the fish was more battered than expected😁 But again, we enjoyed our lunch and we would recommend go there :) Thank you for your great service with the smile, welcoming and friendly vibe
