Sandbar Pub — Restaurant in Wellington

What a disappointing experience this was. I had booked a table for a family meal. After sitting at the table for 20 minutes without any table service we went to the bar to order our meals. We waited 35 minutes before being served, by what looked like a frozen pizza, and four other meals, two of which overdone. During our waiting time we watched bar staff flirting as well as having their hair redone by a customer. We then waited for service to clear the table and ask about desserts. It didn't happen. We told the bar staff that we didn't enjoy the service and that we had wanted dessert but didn't want to wait any longer. We were told they were short staffed! Obviously flirting and having your hair sorted is part of the employment contract then! Rather then doing that staff should have been paying attention to their customers. Didn't get an itemized bill as well. We left and went to Countdown to get a dessert to eat at home with a nice cup of tea! We shall not be going...

Food was absolutely amazing. Waiting time was short, a little under 15 minutes or so (which when compared to many other places is pretty short). Even so, there is a TV showing the Internet sensation: FailArmy (among a couple other things) Although it is not needed, it's nice to have the option. The burgers are a little on the small size, but they make up for it in quality. The Classic Beef Burger is juicy and flavoursome, yet not too messy. They have found the perfect balance. All the while with the same price or even lower than other places. Fries come with gravy and the option of cheese (for another dollar) and while very different from the classic KFC gravy and fries, it is much better. A couple bucks dearer for sure, but much much better. I found myself ordering more despite my lack of stomach capacity. The pub also has a gaming lounge and the option of outdoor seating. I am bit hesitant with sports bar/pub meals because it’s usually quite standard and overpriced, and I usually am not a fan of Italian based food (I prefer Authentic Asian) BUT I was blown away by the standard of the food here. Everything tasted so good!

Everything from Entree to dessert and coffees were amazing!

Esp loved the beer battered fries with cheese and gravy! Yumm

Very well priced.

Steak was cooked to perfection ($17 on Thursdays).

Most days have specials and will defz return on a Monday when it is 2 for one mains!

The ambience was nice here, I can imagine even better when live bands are on.

Out door seating with a view is available.

Wheelchair friendly.

All bar staff were super friendly… esp Sariah!
