Early Dinner with a group of 7 adults and four kids aged 7,5,3,0. Staff were reasonably friendly but not at all attentive - we were a largish thirsty group and service was very slow or non-existent - we had to do all the work and actually catch someone walking by to get any service. Restaurant was not busy - maybe 4-6 other tables? Kids were offered colouring in for entertainment which was great. Bathrooms clean and tidy - with baby change facilities. Menu was really disappointing - especially kids menu as all it offered was “brown food” - chips and nuggets/hotdogs/fish etc and these were served with no imagination or anything resembling a healthy vege. Not hard to add a bowl of peas or some carrot sticks or broccoli to the menu. Or even pasta and sauce - not hard either. I ordered snitzel and asked to change mash/chips to more coleslaw. Meal arrived and was completely swimming in what they called “jus” on menu - which was a meaty red wine thick congealed gravy. Not seasoned well. Snitzel was yum and tender but absolutely swimming in this thick gloopy Mess. Coleslaw was underwhelming too. Nothing seasoned properly. Coleslaw looked like with was out of the packet with some mayo stirred through and wasn’t nice. I asked for lemon to help. My partner ordered lamb shank pie and it looked AMAZING (I had total food envy) - but Even though it looked great it tasted really average - no seasoning - just really bland and so incredibly hot it burned BOTH and our mouths - will teach me for stealing a bite :) My mother in law ordered seafood chowder and was underwhelmed - was very thick and congealed and had hardly any seafood in it, My cousin really enjoyed his blue cod and salad - and I didn’t ask others in group how their meals were but we had quite high expectations based on reviews on google etc and were really disappointed by our experience. No one came and asked how our meals were. No one came to take drinks orders The waitress while not unfriendly exactly - was also not engaging or overly helpful. Kids ended up being free which was a bonus - but even so I wouldn’t recommend this place which is a pity because it’s a primo spot and has so much...

While we wholeheartedly appreciate the condescending tone paired with tired sarcasm in response to our review, a genuine acknowledgement of the faults in their service would have been sufficient.
Admittedly, a few guests arrived on time with the remainder of our guests arriving 24 minutes late. However, 2 hours & 56 Minutes after arrival for a 3-course dinner is ridiculous. We did order drinks upon arrival but were honoured with observing our waitress learning to make our drinks on the spot with the help of other bar staff. Also, we only left the table after an order was taken.
They had one server on for 17 guests until someone else could be bothered helping her. I verbally confirmed a set menu with the manager TWICE (if this went over her head and she required written confirmation, I completely understand, comprehension can certainly be hard) yet we arrived to find no menus. When these were eventually brought out, it was obvious they were hot off the press as they weren’t prepared citing that the manager “needed confirmation” of the set menu (again, comprehension isn’t easy for everyone).
Reading through the reviews, it seems timing is constantly an issue, so if you intend to book here, you’ll just have to cross your fingers and, “hope the team scheduled can magically cook things quicker.”.
While I’m not well versed in the mystic arts, if I’m paying for food and service, I fully expect your team to use whatever spells they can to “magically cook things quicker”.
I agree, it was not ideal that our party arrived 24 minutes late but I do hope they can also agree that mains served 1 hour and 58 minutes after arrival is also not ideal.
I digress, thank you for an experience we will never forget...
Read moreWhere do I start?. We visited this restaurant on Friday 06/07/2018. I was entertaining a friend from Auckland and I was not from this area. My friend had a bad feeling from the start and she was quite right. After looking at the menu we thought we were in luck as my friend had to have gluten free..We ordered a wine each. Mine came however after a short time we asked where my friends glass of sparkling was . Answer : It was coming from next door. maybe we should of eaten there. We ordered . She had the fish which the waitress said came with a salad. However it came with a mango salsa. Well I am no cook at all. I could only 2 small bits of mango, 3 green things and about 1/2 can of corn. However the best was to come. I ordered the Panko crumbed chicken breast stuffed with bacon, mozzarella & cream cheese – garlic green beans, buffalo fries, creamy mushroom sauce( from the posh nosh section) well doesn't that sound lovely. Out came from the kitchen a bowl with my chicken breast on it completely covered in mushroom sauce and somewhere in there were the beans and potatoes However this tops it off. I had my second bite of chicken to find the the centre of the breast was completly raw. You heard it Raw chicken. I mean jelly totally uncook chicken. I called the waiter over and showed him and he said it was ok. So I asked for the manager. Everyone around us started checking their food. How they handled it was very poor. End result we had to pay for our drinks. I would not even give them a star! Bad customer service! Untrained waitresses. I would not chance a...
