Argungu by Nkoyo Very interesting name, I’ll like to know the meaning.

This is a beautiful restaurant beside the water front at Jabi lake mall. Nice, professional and smiling staff. The vibe is African meets posh. But that is all.

Environment: The restaurant is neat but it will be great if management could trim the overgrown grass bordering the lake and plant flowers instead. I went there at night, so I couldn’t tell if what I saw in the water was dirt, if it is, I’m glad I didn’t eat there during the day.

Service: Great service from the staff. Very professional and pleasant. Whoever trained and manages them deserves kudos. I am appealing for a new batch of uniforms (and table cloths) for them cos what they wore was very drap. You can use African prints and still look chic.

Food: I don’t know what ingredient it was, but everything tasted off. From the virgin colada I had to the fish. I ended up getting “African giant peppered snail, with a side of jollof rice”, and there was nothing giant, peppered or jollof about the food. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I couldn’t force the “jollof rice” down my throat. It looked so bland. Like it was cooked without enough tomatoes and oil. Then the 3 pieces of snail? Ha! I don’t remember ordering a vegetarian option, but even a vegetarian wouldn’t find that appealing.

Overall, a 3-star experience with 2 stars for the staff, and 1 star for how neat the restaurant is. And this is me...

Recently started visiting restaurants in Abuja and this one I will definitely return to. The price point is really good in my opinion. The most expensive main course was 4000 naira which is very affordable. The Pina Colada was mad just right and honestly, that won my heart. The ambience is good although I wish the plants were better arranged as my friends and I could not see the river clearly and what's the point of going to a water side restaurant when you cannot get a clear view. But overall, I definitely recommend the seafood jollof rice (we were 3 ladies who dont eat much and one plate was sufficient for us, it's that much), the Pina Colada which I thoroughly enjoyed and the Bubble gum lemonade...lemonade never tasted so good...

This is a nice restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the lake. For starters, I had the sea food soup with garlic bread, yummy but I was a bit disappointed that the soup only had fish and calamari in it. Could’ve added more options like bits of shrimp and crab.. Also, the menu is painfully limited for such a restaurant.

We were given sweet potato crisps to munch on as we waited for the food- which didn’t take too long. For mains, I had the fried rice and fish something. The rice was basic, but the fish tasted fresh and was delicious.

The waiters were nice enough.

Downside to sitting outside was the heat. The power kept going off, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the outdoors. I imagine it’s better...

You will find it along the waterside of Jabi Lake Mall. Honestly cannot fault this place. Their staff are wonderful, their service is quick and they are all very attentive and constantly eager to please no matter how many times you visit. The prawn salads are really, particularly the mango salad (off menu). They also do a traditional English fish and chips really well which is quite nostalgic. Ambience is a 5/5 for me. I have felt comfortable enough here on my own an with company. Clean and tidy environment that attracts a mixed but warm crowd. The pricing is reasonble, you can visit and be satisfied on a budget, to be honest. *It is wheelchair accessible* which is amazing and unusual generally in Abuja.
