The ambience is one of the most aesthetically pleasing that I have seen in recent months. Large picture windows let in a lot of natural light and warmth during the day, and create interesting shadows from various ornamental and food trees in the early evening. And the view at night is no less welcoming.
This Chinese restaurant is in its third month of operation as at at the time of this review and I fervently hope they maintain and improve the good standards.
Back to the ambience. I love the wood and metal blend of furniture. Heavy wooden dining tables create a feeling of welcome, but are also very beautiful and dignified-looking. I was curious about the wood of the tables and Miss Louisa, the founder of Lomo, explained that the tables were all made in Nigeria while the slim wood chairs were brought in from China.
The bookshelves lining a long wall in the main dining area and another wall in a smaller dining area feature a wide range of authors and genres.
They also have a tea ceremony room where traditional tea ceremonies are held. I was hosted to one and found the culture very interesting.
We visited on various days and enjoyed a number of dishes and drinks. Almost everything was a delight and those we were dissatisfies, we informed the manager about and he offered a replacement.
My recommendations would include: ☕️Coffee: Warm orange. It was my first time having that and the orange rind was a very interesting note. 🥘 Onion Rings: Crunchy on the outside, sweet like caramelised onions on the inside. 🥘 Steamed beef dumplings: I preferred these to the chicken.
Many more dishes were pleasant but let’s stop at these for now.
Lomo also has really pleasant waitstaff. Customer service from phone conversations to on-site service is pretty good and the manager very pleasantly steps in when there are issues the waitstaff can’t answer satisfactorily.
They also offer subscription card services which have to be prepaid and which get the diner discounts on subsequent purchases until the card is emptied but can be topped up...
Read moreFood = 95% I had Onion Rings (Dare I say, the best I've ever had) and Chicken Dumplings which were very tasty (Didn't quite like the soy sauce but the sweet and sour sauce was quite good).
Had the Oreo Milkshake and Tropical Smoothie which were both good.
Location = 100% Somewhere out of Wuse, Asokoro or Central Area to chill and have a good time, is definitely a breathe of fresh air to the lungs! I kinda like how almost inconspicuous it is.
Ambience = 100% Indoor and Outdoor options are always a good idea. Outdoor dining here would be better at night because of the lighting.
It's a good place to do some work while eating or waiting for food. Everything is just right - light, spacing, chairs etc.
The bonus; the library fusion!
Staffing = 100% All the staff were generally courteous. The manager came by once or twice to check if everything was going well.
Pricing = 70% Not the regular easy peasy but it isn't cut-throat either. Other than the tea which looked a little expensive but I reckon that the prices for the tea were more than the tea but the experience of brewing et al.
The portions are quite sizeable though.
Wait Time = 80% Took about 20 minutes to get onion rings out and another 25 to get the dumplings.
There is also a space for rent somewhere in the building adjacent...
Read moreLet me start with the ambience, which for me is a 5-star. Lomo Coffee Restaurant has one of the best seats a restaurant could offer, I was so comfortable, unlike many other restaurants.
While walking in, you will be welcomed by very nice and politely smiling staff at the entrance. Another soothing experience was the mild music in the background, this triggered me in a good way. Was already planning my proposal in my head. 😂
The air is very clean as well as the entire restaurant. The restroom is spacious and properly done, separated by gender and there’s a urinal for men. What I found impressive was the different heights for the wash hand basin which signifies inclusivity for people of different heights.
I would also consider the restaurant as a mini library because of the number of books you can find here. It’s also a nice and quiet place to get in some quick work done.
As for the food, I have not had much but the few I had was very nice. You should all try out the ginger tea. A friend of mine had to order takeouts after giving it a try.
If you find yourself around the block, make sure 👌 you visit Lomo Coffee...
