Liquid Hub by Spronks is neat and decent.
My friend stopped by to have Abula (amala, ewedu and gbegiri), and i decided to have some too. That would be my second time ever eating it.
The food was GOOD. I was overly impressed, it was way better than the first one i ever tasted somewhere else. I went back the second time with another friend. The third time with yet another friend. And the fourth time with four new people.
Each time I had Abula, the end result was an empty plate, not just for me but for everyone who had it.
Service in Liquid Hub is very poor. The wait staff is just so bleh! They take too much time to answer questions, bring your drink/food/bill. It’s just tiring. You could be done eating before every other person’s food arrives and you are all on the same table.
The meals are not consistent from plate to plate. You could have four pieces of goat meat today and five the next day. Once, there was no gbegiri in my Abula, I had to wait an extra ten or so minutes for them to provide it. Another time, there was enough goat meat for just one person and the assorted meat was tough to eat (not well cooked); at noon.
The wait staff/manager don’t seem to be able/willing to go the extra mile for clients. A party of five people would have left to another restaurant just because the manager insisted they couldn’t join tables for us. We were well on our way out of there when they decided they could join two tables for our group so that we wouldn’t have to eat on separate tables.
There is sales tax of 22.5% to pay so bear that in mind.
If you love to eat sweet Abula in a decent space, this is your spot. But the poor service is something that my...

But then, tucked away in the middle of what looked like a construction site, is a cluster of rather nice upmarket hangouts. All with fancy names catering to the bourgeois crowd of old ikoyi. Liquid Hub is the really really nice wine bar sitting smack in the heart of the cluster. Tastefully done with a huge selection of wines, most of which are arranged on the walls of liquid Hub. It's classy, it's discreet its 2 thumbs up. There's a small matter of a membership arrangement? Still, well worth exploring.
ADD: Haven't things changed! Liquid Hub is now a full on lounge/sit out packed to the rafters on Friday night! Bank cards have replaced membership cards, and everything from lager to cognac work nicely alongside the wines still hanging more as decorations on the walls inside. It's easily the most mature crowd you'll find on a night out on the island, but it works. No Gen z in...

That's it, and that's all. Don't come here hungry. Don't come here for cocktails. Don't come here expecting a lounge type place. This is a wine bar. They have a good wine collection. I would say excellent, but when your house wine is comprised of only South African wines, is that really an excellent wine collection?
Made the mistake of coming here famished from a hair appointment, needless to say that I left just as famished as I came in 3 hours and an exorbitant bill later. Then, I knew.
Like I...
