Certainly one of the best restaurants you can get in Lagos, Nigeria. Food was very good and prices are not crazy for this side of town. Will need to visit and try other things on the menu to see if definitely worthy of the five star rating (although knowing me I would stick to what I have already tried and enjoyed). However, based on the short pork ribs and burger that I ate I can't complain. And wife really loved the milkshake (though it tasted like any milkshake to me).
Waiter was nice and pleasant and ambience was good.
Only have two complaints, both of which are a very Nigerian problem that are part of the most frustrating things about living in Nigeria for me.
First is parking space. There is a lounge here which seems quite busy so if you go in the evening be ready to deal with parking issues. I avoid many locations because I hate dealing with parking headache.
Second issue is security guard said I could not use my camera because they charge people extra to use cameras. I was ready to walk out when I was told this but wife asked that we stay. I don't see why I should pay so much money for food and need to pay to use my own camera. I find this to be one of the most retarded things about Nigerian businesses. Always feel the huge money you are paying is not enough for you to enjoy the place to the fullest. Makes having photography as hubby in Nigeria pretty tiresome. It is extra retarded because the quality of phone cameras makes this rule redundant and stupid in this day and age. And when I compare it with Kenya where they ask you to tag the place online shows how stupid the rule is. You should want people to use professional pics to display your restaurant online in its greatest glory. Not prevent them using cameras so you can use it as an...
Read moreQuays Lagos—pronounced “Keys”—is a stylish spot tucked away in Lekki Phase 1 that’s quietly building a reputation for bold flavors and thoughtful presentation. The interior is sleek and minimal, with a warped ceiling and warm lighting that gives the space a modern, cozy vibe. The open kitchen adds a nice touch, though the occasional kitchen chatter can be a bit distracting.
The goat meat tacos are the standout here—juicy, spicy, and unapologetically Nigerian in flavor. The Sailor’s Lunch, featuring fried fish and sweet potato fries, is well-executed, though the fish could use a bit more presence amidst the batter. The confit lamb shank, however, was a miss—overcooked and dry, lacking the tenderness one would expect. The smoked guinea fowl pasta is rich and flavorful, albeit a bit heavy on the sauce, which can overpower the delicate taste of the fowl.
Cocktails are a mixed bag; the Tiki Namachi, for instance, leans heavily on ginger beer, which can overshadow the other flavors. On the sweeter side, the strawberry daiquiri is refreshing and well-balanced. Desserts like the caramelized cheesecake show promise, though the thick crust and overpowering yogurt topping could be refined for a more harmonious bite.
Service is attentive, and the option to order via QR code adds a modern touch. Prices are on the higher side, with mains ranging from ₦22,000 to ₦25,000, but the quality of ingredients justifies the cost. Overall, Quays Lagos offers a solid dining experience with room for improvement, particularly in consistency and...
Read moreI recently dined at Quays, a fine dining restaurant, and had a memorable culinary experience. The menu offered a diverse range of options, and our choices, including the pork chops, Spicy braised BBQ short rib (which was undeniably the standout dish), and tacos, were all exceptional in flavor and presentation. The chef's skills were truly on display.
However, the only downside to the evening was the noise level in the lounge upstairs. The music was quite loud, which, in my opinion, detracted from the overall fine dining atmosphere that Quays aims to provide. I inquired with our server about this, and he explained that due to it being a Friday night, the lounge tends to get lively. While I understand the desire for a vibrant lounge experience on weekends, it did slightly diminish the overall fine dining ambiance.
Despite this minor inconvenience, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and service at Quays. I plan to return on a different day of the week to fully appreciate the serene and upscale dining environment that the restaurant offers. It's a great place for those seeking exquisite cuisine, and I appreciate their efforts to cater to various preferences and...
